WP: Limbaugh apologizes to Michael J. Fox, and opens new line of attack
Rush Limbaugh On the Offensive Against Ad With Michael J. Fox
By David Montgomery
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, October 25, 2006; Page C01

Possibly worse than making fun of someone's disability is saying that it's imaginary. That is not to mock someone's body, but to challenge a person's guts, integrity, sanity.

To Rush Limbaugh on Monday, Michael J. Fox looked like a faker. The actor, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, has done a series of political ads supporting candidates who favor stem cell research, including Maryland Democrat Ben Cardin, who is running against Republican Michael Steele for the Senate seat being vacated by Paul Sarbanes.

"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."...

***

Later Monday, still on the air, Limbaugh would apologize, but reaction to his statements from Parkinson's experts and Fox's supporters was swift and angry....After his apology, Limbaugh shifted his ground and renewed his attack on Fox.

"Now people are telling me they have seen Michael J. Fox in interviews and he does appear the same way in the interviews as he does in this commercial," Limbaugh said, according to a transcript on his Web site. "All right then, I stand corrected. . . . So I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologize to Michael J. Fox, if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act."

Then Limbaugh pivoted to a different critique: "Michael J. Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited and in the process is shilling for a Democratic politician."...

11. Uh uh
Yes, he gave $2000 to Arlen Specter's primary campaing in 2003. He has also donated $11,000 to Democrats since 1990.

More here: http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Michael_J_Fox.php

He is not a Republican.

7. Is it just me, or do conservatives not use their own troubles...
...as a base to assist others?
I mean, yes, stem cell research would help Michael J. Fox...and it would have helped Chris Reeves...but it will also help thousands (maybe millions?) of other people.

I don't recall see ANY conservatives, sick, healthy, or in-between doing this kind of work.

What, I wonder, will Rump Leakage's reaction be when HE is diagnosed with a disease that stem-cell research could manage/slow/cure?

I feel sorry for whatever karma is destined to bite THAT ass...:puke:

is that he was getting power drilled in quite another manner. Costa Rica doesn't only make young virgin girls available to scumsucking Republican men.

12. So...Nancy Reagan was exploited also?
She supported/supports stem cell research in part based on her husband's Alzheimer's disease.
Does that mean she was exploited by Democrats fer gawdsake?

No, it means she was promoting what she thought was right.
Why is that different for Michael J. Fox, Limbaugh's opinion at least?

lies of corrupt, shameless Republicans who dare to portray clearly honest hope for a better future for himself and others who come after him as just one of the base, vile acts of evil that Republicans practice every day and call political survival.

There is always an opportunity in life to at least redeem yourself in a small way, and Nancy Reagan does so by speaking her mind.

Michael J. Fox's humanity and hope and pain soar like the light of God through the bitter swamp of selfishness and degradation of the human spirit hard wired onto the Republican brain, and that honesty and reality terrifies every last one of them.

Republicans have reached back into humanity's history of ugliness, electric prodding dormant racism, fear of loss of control of women and using physical threats to keep people in line. They are all the hatred of the 50's, technologically amplified, though devoid of even the concept that everyone should at least have a chance to live a decent life.

16. "Rush Limbaugh On the Offensive Against Ad With
Michael J. Fox"

That's the headline I see. The article goes on to explain that Pigboy's "apology" was a non-apology.

Pigboy is an offense to all living things.

Assuming a big win in November, it would be delightful to open a full scale campaign against Rush. We could call it "cleaning up the environment" or whatever.

20. I think Rush is making a big mistake going after Michael J Fox
Fox is too well liked by too many people and no one has ever doubted the seriousness of his condition.

Rush should have just shut his mouth while he was ahead, but apparently he just wants to keep digging that hole he made even deeper.

30. The core of the right-wing consists of feeble-minded sheep
who need to hear constant reinforcement of their selfish and hateful views. They lap up Rush and his clones because it's the perfect format - they listen, they nod, they do as they are told.

The most they can muster the courage to do is become a member of the 101st Keyboard Division and either set up a whiny blog, or pose as a Democrat and post silly things on liberal message boards.
