Academy Award-winner Adrien Brody, “Exorcist’ Star Linda Blair, Hollywood Community to Support Mark Hanson for State Senate

Actors, Celebrities to Attend Campaign Fundraiser, Oct. 25, in Hollywood

WHO/WHAT: Actor Adrien Brody, who captured an Oscar for his performance in “The Pianist,” and actress LindaBlair, who starred in ”The Exorcist,” will join Democratic State Senate Candidate Mark Hanson for a
Hollywood-styled fundraiser to support his campaign. Other notable celebrities attending nclude Dane Davis, who won an Academy Award for Best Sound Effects Editing for the 1999 film, “Matrix” and veteran actor Richard Yniguez, who’s appeared on dozens of television shows ranging from “CSI Miami” to “Hawaii Five-0.”

During the event, Hanson will participate in a “mock” debate with an actor portraying his Republican opponent, Dennis Hollingsworth, to dramatize the differences between the two candidates. The Hanson Campaign’s repeated requests to schedule a debate between the two candidates, as well as requests from various community groups, have been denied by the Hollingsworth Campaign.

WHY: The Hollywood Community has thrown its support behind the Hanson Campaign to unseat the incumbent Hollingsworth, whose ultra conservative voting record in the State Senate is out of step with most Californians. Hollingsworth’s principal campaign contributors include agri-business and the chemical, insurance and petroleum industries. In a recent analysis by the California Public Interest Group, Hollingsworth ranked last—or 40th out of 40—in an effectiveness rating of members of the California State Senate.
