At a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser Thursday, an event that took in a phenomenal $600,000, ex-Vice President Al Gore made the case for a new broom to sweep Capitol Hill clean.
Ranging over topics from holding American citizens without trial to the censoring of scientific reports on global warming, Gore argued that the Republican-run Congress has forfeited oversight and failed to act as a co-equal branch of government.
"What they have done, the Republican leaders of the House and Senate, is abandon any responsibility to their oath of office," Gore argued. "The question to put to the American people: Are you OK with this, or do you want to make a change?"
