Lest We Forget.... Four Years Ago On This Day... My Birthday
we lost Paul Wellstone and his family members! Worst birthday EVER! One of the classiest Senators I've ever seen and we'll probably never know the WHOLE truth.

I wish he was here now, boy would he be kicking some IDIOT ASS!

1. Wow, I remember it as if it were yesterday
I didn't realize it had been four years.

4. So do I; I was at work when my mom called
to tell me and, once I got over my disbelief, was absolutely heartbroken. God, how I wish he were here and in the senate now! Why is it always the good ones things like this happen to, why is it never the hateful dangerous ones like Cheney, etc.?

3. I agree with you on this sad memory but wish you good birthday
wishes (and a Democratic Congress!) from this day forward.

Many moons ago, in the dead of winter, long before Wellstone's first Minnesota election, I walked into a bookshop in Dinkytown (visiting friends in the Twin Cities -- a great metropolitan area...) and saw on the wall above the cash register a green Wellstone sign.

Knew he Wellstone was from friends there already and asked the clerk if he believed Wellstone stood any chance of being elected.

"Nah. He's too liberal. But that's why I like him."

Wellstone proved a lot of folks wrong and rose up to victory. His defeats of Rudy Boschwitz iin particular are awe-inspiring. Rudy even ran ads in Minnesota for their second race that said "Wellstone: Embarrassingly liberal for Minnesota."

And Wellstone still prevailed.

He was one of a kind.

I miss him.

6. Thanks For The Wishes... Not Looking For Praise, But This Day
became more significant because of his death. I remember people talking about how he really won, running all over the state asking for Rudy Boschwitz! That WAS brilliant! First I heard of him but never forgot him!

Doesn't it seem strange that so many Democratic heroes get snatched away from us??? I don't recall that many Repukes going out like this!

Message from me to Paul... if you're looking down on us right now, we need some of your magic now. For me, your spirit looms large!

9. We're Kind Of Stuck In Our Own "Mutual Admiration Society" Of
late! I ALWAYS read your posts and as I said before... we think a LOT alike! You're very informative and even handed when making specific points. Plus, you actually "get it" when others don't!

You honor me with your praise... and I thank you! My smilies aren't working today, but I remember this...

A :toast: AND :kick: for you too!

5. My Birthday and Sad day also
The good die young! It is my birthday also and a a sad anniversary of the Wellstone tragedy.

To make you feel a little better please note that Picasso was also born on this day!

Please use the following quote when dealing with Repugs!
"You are entitiled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own facts." Daniel Patrick Moynihan

And I DIDN'T know Picasso was born on this day! Oh my, I wonder if that explains more about me than I want to know!! Born on the cusp, but my Scorpio stinger has served me well!
