Charlie Crist (R FL) outed. Promises appointments to partners.
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 01:03 PM by seasat
I was kind of mixed about posting this because, I'm not sure if I agree with outing closeted politicians. On one hand you have folks like Foley. On the other hand, you have some real good folks that simply would not get elected because of the prejudice against their orientation. That's probably one of the reasons that I'm a Democrat. I don't see things as simply black or white. What is different about this from Max Linn's declarations about Crist is that this partner was promised an appointment and the other is a convicted thief. That would be news even if Charlie was not homosexual and these were young women.

The GOP staffer, 21-year-old Jason Wetherington, told friends at separate social functions in August that he had sex with Crist, according to two credible and independent sources who heard Wetherington make the claim first-hand.

Wetherington, who recently worked as a field director for U.S. Senate candidate Katherine Harris and currently works for state representative Ellyn Bodganoff's reelection campaign, also named a man whom he said is Crist's long-term partner, a convicted thief named Bruce Carlton Jordan who also recently worked for Harris in her long-shot Senate bid.

Jordan made headlines recently when the Miami Herald learned that the felon was working as Harris's travel aide. The newspaper noted that Jordan, 42, was reported to be close friends with Charlie Crist, whom he convinced to attend an annual Florida Funeral Directors Association meeting in 2003.

10. My RW Father-in-law lives in Florida and I said to him....
a week ago while I was visiting,"So Florida is going to elect a Gay Governor, eh?" He said, "Really? who?" When I told him Crist he was shocked.

Knowing the conflict this causes the Republican Hate Party I just couldn't resist.

Wonder who he'll vote for now? He's a Limp-balls listening winger. I friggin' love it.

6.  Bill McCollum (R) is also running for FL. AG. You'd better hope the
D wins because you are looking at an Iran-Contra/Bush enabler if McCollum wins. BTW he's rather fond of Luis Posada Carilles and JEB is fundraising for him.

11. Wow..In a way I hate to see this. It's so sleazy, but on the other
hand,we need more dems in office.

Politics is a dirty business, indeed.

15. Right, Crist is fair game
but it looks like somebody else was outed with him.

That sucks.

I'm all for outing anyone who is in office or their staffs and has been hurting us, all of us. That goes for the straight guys with the peculiar tastes with call girls as well as the closeted gays. It goes for anyone who isn't living the same way he wants us to live.

16. Crist is against gay adoption.
That to me is an even bigger issue than his signing onto the gay marriage ban. We have one of the most horrible child services organizations in any state. We also have one of the most restrictive rules against gay parents adopting a child. Why would you leave children in abusive relationship in Florida's dysfunctional system and not allow them to be adopted into a loving home because of the parent's sexual orientation? This is beyond the pale for me.

12. They've speculated this for years
and Charlie has consistently denied it. In the light of the Foley scandal this just might prove to be an October surprise on the part of the Dems.

Crist's orientation is irrelevant to me, but if he is using his position to actively recruit gays into an unabashedly homophobic Republican Party, the hypocrisy of this would be fair game for the press to explore.

Also, if underage children are involved, it's a whole new ball of wax.

FWIW, Madsen wrote last weekend:

WMR has been informed of a major scandal in this respect concerning the GOP candidate for Governor of Florida. We have learned that Florida GOP politicians have targeted underage male employees of theme parks in the Orlando/Kissimmee area for long-term sexual relationships. This story is developing.

Only time will tell.

17. I live in Florida. Crist's nickname is "Tallahassee Lassie" here.
Everyone knows that Foley and Crist are gay. Randi Rhodes who lives part time here said that Crist and Foley used to go to Coconut Grove, FL (known as the Las Vegas of the East...anything goes).

Not that is care what two consenting ADULTS do. Hey, am I am Dem or what? LOL!

Outing Crist is fair game. Beat the Pukes with their own tactics.

And it's about damn time.

22. I don't care if Charlie Crist sleeps with circus animals.
I oppose him because he's one more Republican governor we don't need, and because a much, much better choice -- Democrat Jim Davis -- is readily available.

Go, Florida Democrats.
