Pillsbury Rove-boy meltdown On NPR: "I'm entitled to "THE" math!"
Rove 'dukes it out' with NPR host over polling data

RAW STORY
Published: Wednesday October 25, 2006

http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Rove_dukes_it_out_with_NPR_1025.html

During a National Public Radio interview, White House Deputy Chief of Staff "duked it out" with the host over polling data, RAW STORY has learned.

The exchange took place yesterday during the White House's scheduled "Radio Day."

After midterm election interviewer Robert Siegel stated that "many might consider you on the optimistic end of realism" regarding Republican hopes to retain both Houses in November, Rove suggested that the NPR host was biased.

"Not that you would be exhibiting a bias or anything like that," Rove said. "You're just making a comment."

"I'm looking at all the same polls that you're looking at every day," Seigel responded

"No you're not!" Rove exclaimed.

Rove said that he was reviewing 68 polls a week, and that "unlike the general public, I'm allowed to see the polls on the individual races," as opposed to public polls reported in the media.

"You may be looking at four or five public polls a week that talk about attitudes nationally, but that do not impact the outcome," Rove said.

Rove claimed that the polls "add up to a Republican Senate and a Republican House."

"You may end up with a different math, but you're entitled to your math," Rove said. "I'm entitled to 'the' math."

2. I listened to this 'interview' yesterday on NPR
and was disgusted by Rove's distinction of 'THE' math. And I thought to myself that 'THE' math, got us into the mess we're in now. 'THE' math has screwed with election after election.

There was also a part where Siegel asked Rove about what the Republican strategy for re-election would be, and Rove's answer went on to list (and I say that sarcastically) items about the war on terra. Siegal answered something like, 'so your answer would be terror, terror, and more terror?'. Rove scrambled to try to reiterate his answer differently, but it was the same. terra, terra, and more terra.

My stomach turned just hearing Rove speak....

4. It's all projected outcomes at this point, but Siegel's question
obviously hit a nerve.

Karl gets to read SPECIAL polls the rest of us don't get to read.

Which Karl decides makes him better qualified to project than anyone else?

When polls show Bush up and Democrats down, we didn't hear Karl complaining that the poll sampling was limited.

Suddenly only SPECIAL polls can be considered, and they're so very special indeed that public discourse on voter sentiment is eclipsed.

You're goin' down, Karl darlin'.

If he's paid by the RNC - that's fine - but why Rove hets to play GOP 24x7 on our dime is a shame.

8. It will be interesting to revisit this in two weeks
ask him after they have been soundly defeated about these polls he listens to.
I can see it now, KKKarl calls Rummy, "Hey Rummy, who's gonna win". Rummy, "we are of course!"
Then he speed dials Tony Snow, "hey Tony, my poll says we got a lock on this!"
Then Snow meets the press and announces that the WH polls show a rethug win.
Yea right. I can't wait for the indictments to begin rolling in.

10. "the" math - you know... the math which lets them not give a crap
what America thinks. No wonder they aren't worried.

that said, I'm still going to vote. Might as well make them work to steal it instead of just giving up.

12. well rove, when your polling questions read "as a diebold employee, would
you be willing to throw the election for us in Ohio for say, $15K?" then i can understand why your numbers read differently from ours.

14. The same math that had everybody else calling the race for Kerry ....
... and he was the only person w/ his own special polls that had bush
winning because of the turn out in the exurbs?

1. Karl secret polls and his math = Warren County Ohio shutting down the
public vote count and doing it in private in 04.

2. Karl is also putting up a front too .... Deb Pryce the #4 repug in the House
is down by 12 points to LIBERAL Mary Jo Kilroy in Central Ohio.
