Cheney FINALLY Admits He Was Wrong On "Last Throes"
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 03:37 PM by JABBS
... now if only he would stop lying about the ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda.

Click here to read his comments yesterday to NPR's Juan Williams, and the evolution from "last throes" to now.

1. I heard him on the radio this morning! HE said Iraq is not in a
civil war in the same sense as Gettysburg or Antietam! If that wasn't the stupidest thing I've ever heard!

3. What an unbelievable idiot
What the hell does he mean by that? They're not using muskets? God, what fools we have for leaders.

6. he's not an idiot
that would suggest he doesn't know better.

this is pure partisan politics, two weeks before an election, hoping people give the GOP another chance.

10. Yes, but it's a pathetic attempt at partisan politics
The Bush clan really only has several plays in their playbook that they keep running over and over again. Attack the patriotism of those who disagree with them, accuse their enemy of their own worst crimes, throw out terrorism as much as possible, and tax cuts. Were it not for the stupidity of a large percentage of the American public and the complicity of the media they would have burned out on these tactics long ago.

But now, people are finally waking up. Even the American people, sluggish and oafish they may be, are finally starting to get. it. Dick Cheney is not an overwhelming genius, and neither is Karl Rove. If he really thinks tactics like this are going to work he's in for a big surprise.

5. His distinction made no sense.
Cheney said Iraq isn't in a Civil War, because "when I think civil war, I think Antietam, Gettysburg." He said W's Iraq is different because "You've got a united government, a unity government in place. You've got united military forces, in terms of the army."

OK, in the U.S. Civil War (or "the recent unpleasantness," as it's known in some quarters), we had a united government (the United States Government), and united military forces (the U.S. Army and Navy). On the other side you had an insurgency, a bunch of rebels who were fighting their own country's government.

Sorry, Dick, you blew it on that one.

7. The Ministry of Truth has been lax: Cheney never said that the Iraqi
Adventure was in its last throes of chaos, and Oceania has always been allied with EastAsia against Eurasia!

that the insurgency is in its last throes."

(To borrow phraseology from Joe Stalin, spiritual mentor of the Bush/Cheney maladministration.)
