This was about the time when he talked about running for president. (Of course, it was also the same time the media were having a grand time accusing Dems of "cut and run".) I remember Biden saying that he did not advocate a "cut and run" policy, but did believe "benchmarks" for withdrawal from Iraq would be effective.

Now that Bush is using the same word "benchmark" that Biden used.....does that mean that he now AGREES WITH THE DEMOCRAT'S PLAN for Iraq? :sarcasm:

3. This reminds me of something interesting someone said last week
I was up in New Hampshire attending a Democratic House Party that Wes Clark was at. The time came for Wes to say a few words and he did, very nicely covering the real threats and challenges America faces both at home and abroad, with an emphasis on the danger we face if Democrats can't place a check on this Republican Administration after this election.

Anyway I was talking to this thoughtful guy who was there, who was attending because his college student son was running for a seat in the NH State legislature (a very cool story in it's own right). After he heard Clark speak he said "I think I just found the first Domino". When I asked him to explain what he meant, he said that for the last year or more he's been hearing watered down slogan sound bite sized versions of a whole lot of things that Wes Clark just spoke about in great detail from his own first hand knowledge. It suddenly became obvious to him that Clark was the original source for many of the ideas and plans and ways of conceptualizing what is going on now in the world that he had been picking up echos of from numerous other Democrats.

So that was his metaphor for it, the first Domino. Clark originates fresh thinking and others pick it up and pass it on to others who do the same, in a chain reaction progression, and most only know about the person who they receive the perspective from, they never see "the first Domino". This guy thought he found it though when he saw Clark speaking and answering questions from the audience that night.

4. So did Kerry following Dean's lead...
Let's remember who gave Democrats the balls to stand up back in 2003/2004.

Let's remember who has funded the state parties to allow them the staff to travel their respective states and set up networks and campaigns.

I worked on the state campaign and have seen directly the significance of this. In my opinion, if we take one house or both, we should all take the time to thank Howard Dean for everything he's given our party. I would submit there isn't a single individual who's done more for our party in recent history aside from Bill Clinton.

5. Dean deserves vast credit. No doubt about it. Amen
In my opinion no one did more than Howard Dean to wake up the Democratic Party, and no one is doing more than Howard Dean to fight for it's soul now.
