ABC used to have some integrity |
|
Not anymore, however: ABC News had no problem documenting ads, currently airing in campaign across the country, attacking Democrats, including http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/oct/24/tn_sen_mehlman_explains_bimbo_ad">one from the Republican National Committee about Democratic Tennessee Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. In it, an actress playing a ditzy blonde bimbo says: "I met Harold at the Playboy party. ... Harold, call me." Critics, including http://thinkprogress.org/2006/10/24/cohen-ford-racism/">one prominent Republican, have called the ad borderline racist.
At the conclusion of its report on attack ads, ABC News insisted that "Democrats aren't necessarily running clean campaigns." Unable to cite any examples, ABC News reported, "As the races tighten in the next couple of weeks, the left will likely unleash its garbage as well." Makes you miss Peter Jennings even more, don't you think?

I can understand why ABC and the rest of the media is defending republicans. There is not one major newspaper, radio station, network TV or cable TV that is not owned lock stock and barrel by republicans.
Even the one newspaper that used to at least print some democratic information has now fully gone republican...the Washington Post. the endorsed Ehrlich for governor. Saying he has more experience. Yeah more experience in stiffing the people of Maryland. Appointed an election head who is 100% republican. Firing career state employees who just happened to be democrats. He is as crooked as bush. Even picking a blind woman to be his running mate after Steele is waging a losing battle for the Senate. He said if she had not have been blind he wouldn't have picked her. He did it to get the handicap vote.

6. And yet the GOP is polling so very badly |
|
It looks like millions and millions of people have come to the conclusion all on their own (certainly without much prompting from the major media) that Republican governance is not good for the country.
Which means that, as usual, it's up to US to do the heavy lifting. The media cheerleaders aren't going to help or even wave their pom-poms. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Get them to see that things aren't going real well in the country, just like it never goes well during sustained periods of GOP rule. Ask them if they really, truly think that electing more Republicans to office will set things to right. We're not asking for their love, just their vote.

5. Why is anyone patronizing Disney/ABC anyway? |

Gee, I guess all those DUers saying we could never actually have any effect on them were heard loud and clear. And the sacred Steve Jobs was left unscathed. Wasn't Hastert talking about iPods or somethiing today?
