I Wonder How The Peasants Are Doing Tonight
"Sire, the peasants are revolting"
"You're telling me, they stink on ice!"- Mel Brooks History of the World

Watching Rush Limbaugh mock Michael J. Fox was somewhere beyond disgusting tonight. However, it was so indicative of the Republican mindset. Other people's problems, other people's suffering, other people's troubles just don't matter. What was the reaction in Missouri? Let's put on a counter ad that features Pitcher Jeff Supan, quarterback Kurt Warner and actress Patricia Heaton. Ah yes, a pretty actress and some gifted professional athletes. People whose lives are so much like the rest of us. People who can really relate to the suffering of the little people here to tell us what should or shouldn't be done to help them.

I wonder how my neighbor Neil Cavuto reacted to Rush's little side show over on Fox News? Did he do logical back flips to defend Rush and excuse his behavior. Of course the suffering of others is always fair game for any level of criticism if they are liberals. (See Cindy Sheehan) But old Neil (who oddly enough is a really nice guy when he isn't being an asshat on TV) suffers from MS, another disease that can benefit from Stem Cell research. Would they be defending Rush over at Faux News if he limped around the EIB studio mocking an MS patient? Curiosity makes me want to tune in but I just can't bring myself to look.

Yes the peasants and their problems. The economy is wonderful, as long as your a CEO. Just take one of those fabulous jobs at Wal-Mart and shut up. Never mind that even in this "booming" economy we simply can't afford to raise the minimum wage. The war in Iraq is going swimmingly. Of course, none of your family members are over there. Keep everybody else's kids fighting and dying. (We did have a stirring ceremony here in town when that fellow down the street returned from Iraq. A great chance to wave the flag and hail the Great Decider) Just stop with all that negativism and get on the bandwagon to democracy in the Middle East.

Well here's to a wake up call for the privileged elite come Election Day. The rest of us members of the unwashed masses are just trying to get by every day while they plan the nation's course. People who might just care about their fellow human being. People who believed all that crap from school about the ideals of this country. People who care about our nation's reputation and think that we should be striving to be the best we can be to the most people possible. All very quaint notions that the peasants continue to harbor. How are those peasants doing tonight? Hopefully working hard to turn the tables our Republican friends on Election Day.
