Polster called me and used the term "Democrat" party
I answered this pricks questions despite the fact that I am opposed to polling. I don;t think one issue weighs anymore importance over a voters mind than any other when we are talking war, health care or the economy. With that in mind I generally like to take a pass.

Not to mention that they ask questions about issues that voters know nothing about and continue on without explaining them. One issue was something to do with a medicare bill that's on the table that I know nothing about. I admitted that to the pollster and he continued to ask me questions on the subject.

None of this really stood out to me until after I hung up the phone. What kept echoing in my head was the pollster repeating "Democrat Party" and stressing the "crat". I could have sworn he threw a few "craps" in there as well.

I suppose this is how the Republicans plan on winning or at least gaining some ground. One mistake I made, I forgot to ask who this pollster was affiliated with. Generally, when they use the term "Democrat" party to ask who you are voting for, it should set off red flags.

So I guess not being forthright about who you are affiliated with, using the term "Democrat" party, asking questions about bills no one knows nothing about all via polling is how the Republicans plan on skewing polls there way leading up to the elections. Talk about a bunch of devious pricks. It's often typical of the right to pose themselves as professional respectable organizations w/o naming themselves.

These fuckers absolutely can not win straight up on the issues because no one in their right minds would go along with them. The one thing they do know is that Americans like to say they voted for or sided with the winner. Lets see how far they get attempting to make it seem that they have a shot in November. I'm certain they'll dupe a few Americans and they'll vote for them.

1. People are catching on -- using "Democrat Party" is a dead giveaway
that the pollster is probably a Rethug. I'm glad of this, even though it irritates me when people on the left STILL use "Democrat" when they should be using "Democratic."

14. I hate those things YEEESH!!!!!
I'd rather talk about things using my own ideas. Originality counts a lot.

Rightwingers get into those things and sound like annoying freakin' robots with no mind of their own.

5. If this is a puke internal poll
And you were clued in on it by their choice of words tell them everything they want to hear. It is not like you sign an affadavit as to the veracity of your opinions.

Screw their poll up and make them overconfident so Karl Rove can continue to say he has access to "the" math right up until they march his ass off in handcuffs.

12. Polls don't generally change anyones opinions
provided that they are not complete morons. This country is made up of 25% moron so who knows. There are tons of folks who love to sound knowledgable about subjected they know nothing about. Folks like Rush Limbaugh make a living off of them.

I suppose that's who Republicans are counting on come this election.

13. no, they do not change anyone's opinions
but skewed internal polls taken as the gospel can make a certain Repuke party make a bad strategic move.

That's my point.

7. This may have been a "push poll".
A push poll is designed to influence your opinions rather than measure them.

Did he ask any leading questions, or questions that sounded like they were designed to put a Democratic candidate, or Democrats in general, in a bad light?

They might, for example, ask something like "considering their poor record on defense, do you trust Democrats to protect you and your family?"

8. I can't paraphrase anything precisely
There was something mentioned about a medicare presciption bill. Along the lines of "Do you think it's right that they pass the "medicare prescription bill". I told him repeatedly that I knew nothing about the bill and he kept asking me questions about it. Normally, I would think that they would stop asking as soon as the respondent admits they know nothing about the issue.

Would kinda ruin the credibility of the poll.

But yeah, some of the questions seemed a little leading.

9. Tell them you're a Republican and you're concerned about the robots.
I don't even know why the scientists make them.

Robots are everywhere, and they eat old people's medicine for fuel.

And when they grab you with those metal claws, you can't break free.. because they're made of metal, and robots are strong.

For when the metal ones decide to come for you - and they will...

10. I had the same experience
I asked the caller if her list of questions actually read "Democrat Party" or "Democratice Party." She corrected herself. It was pretty clear to me that it was a Kerry Healy (gubernatorial candidate her in MA) sponsored poll, but the caller was just a telemarketer.

18. Am I the only one who doesnt find this to be a problem ? ...
The loss of two letters by braindead RW whackos is hardly cause for infinite angst ....

I prefer to blow RIGHT BY these faux pas, and hit them on Iraq, or Social Security, or the numerous other issues we need to confront them about ...

BTW: 'Polster' is spelled with another 'L', as in 'Pollster' ...

You forgot one letter ....

21. Try assessing before correcting
That's usually a sign of intelligence; Knowing the difference between a typo and one who doesn't know how to spell.(Here's a hint for starters: in the body of the post, it's spelled correctly.) Anyways, there are always a few people like you in the room when folks are trying to hold a discussion. Generally, most people find it annoying. Wanna know what prevents the left from getting anywhere (I hold no illusion thatwe will get anywhere on a message board)?

Folks like you trying to score points in the manner you just did. If you are so in need of negative attention, go break some windows.

Also, try to understand the finer points of the discussion if you are going to do that. Here's a hint, it's called taking what some might call a "trusted" scientific study and using it to sway public opinion.

24. The 'finer points' ....
are hardly served by focusing on trite issues, like omitting 'ic' from 'Democratic', instead of hammering into the Republicans for their malfeasance in office and their inability to govern our great land ....

Honestly: you give the problem too much weight ..... Let them know they are wrong, then move on to the REAL problems we face ...

I cannot assume it was a typo, since you didnt fix it by the time I posted some 3 days later .... You had every opportunity to do so, if you knew it was incorrectly entered type ....

Im just keeping you, and the discourse, honest ..... Something wrong with that ?

22. I thought I addressed that
I was to busy focusing on why this guy was asking me questions about an issue I admitedly knew very little about. It wasn't until I hung up the phone that I paid any mind to his use of "Democrat party" or "democrap party".

25. I would have corrected him on his grammar
if he had called me. We should never, never be letting them get away with that shit. I'd ask him his name, and the name of the polling company, and then call them and suggest that they hire people who can speak the English language.
