Why doesn't he just pipe down otherwise? He's really sounding and acting repugnant, even for him.

1. I think he spends too much time in that studio, pretending that
his personal viewpoints represent voters everywhere.

I read on the web that Imus tore into him today for the attack on Michael J. Fox.

Good.

You're right -- he's worse than his usual and his usual is already bad.

4. I also heard it alluded to (Olbermann?) that Rush gets talking points
from the wh. And I saw statistics today showing support is swinging to Dems because of Rush mouthing off. Why wouldn't/aren't they telling him to back off?
It's all very odd to me.

7. Good question. I know Limbaugh seems to be in that loop somehow.
There were reports that Bill Bennett and Limbaugh collaborated on "public relations initiatives" during Reagan/Bush I years. Never saw independent documentation on that, but their emphases sure felt a lot alike.

Maybe Limbaugh will hand us Missouri over the Fox ad attack. That'd be good news for our side.

Talent is a no-count, nondescript rubber stamp.

19. And the people who call him
fall over themselves trying to agree with him more than the person before him. I listened for about 5 minutes today when he was saying this would backfire on the Democrats - that embryonic stem cell research was a fraud and "his" people knew it. He was totally rambling. I doubt he can admit he made a mistake. He's also claiming the tape of him was speeded up to make him look worse in imitating Fox. (To me, I think he knows he blew it.)

20. Agree. He knew what he was doing. He was using his studio pulpit
and huge hating-ratings to be cruel to someone with a disease.

It was repellent behavior and his higher-ups should have fired him on the spot.

21. He may have over reached
That he attacked someone with a disease is not the problem - he attacked Cleland! The problem may be that Michael J Fox is a popular actor who many people across the political spectrum liked. He has always seemed to be a nice guy in his private life and he was a very likable character (even as a young conservative Republican - and that takes doing.) in Family Ties and in Back to the Future.

Rush can demonize Cleland and Kerry - even calling them weak on terror. His base doesn't have a positive image of either of these outstanding men. They do of Michael J Fox. I'm sure some are a bit squeamish that he is mocking a nice guy.

2. No. Sam Seder explained what this is about....
...as a guest on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann."

Seder said:

Limbaugh's fans want to hear that anything which they might be compassionate about, they don't need to be, since it's just fake.

5. I so agree with Sam
Rush hands out permission slips to ditto heads to not have to feel compassion that may start creeping into their hearts. Or as in this instance he grabs them by their collars and pulls them back down into his cesspool.

9. It seems to be a bit out of control now with all the appearances
MJ Fox is making; I think Limbaugh could lose some credibility.

16. Not with me, but obviously people listen to him and take
their marching orders/way to act from him. If they didn't, this wouldn't be an issue.

3. Rush has been a part of a few "WH" summits in which RW talkers...

...are being coordinated to attack ANY Democratic beach head in this cycle.

If you think Rush isn't speaking for Rove, you're mistaken.;)

6. Just keep bloviating, Limpbaugh...
Your party needs ALL the help you can give it. You're doin' a heckuva job there.

Who you gonna go after next for 'faking it'? The amputees and PTSD survivors who've come home from Iraq?

:puke:

Damn Rush Limbaugh for "outing" fakers.

10. I think it's a classic deflection tactic
Everyone's talking about Rush and MJF, and not the issue of stem cell research or the Missouri race.

11. Or, as was noted on Hardball by Chuck Todd, Iraq, which is what
the real deflection is probably about.

12. I sure agree with that.

The original remarks about MJ Fox motivated me to listen to Limbaugh's first portion each day since. I've heard nothing at all about Bush's shift or psuedo-shift on Iraq. Miiiighty strange.

13. Let him spew...he's only burying Talent.
Even faithful listeners and the RW pundits are burying their faces in shame and silently screaming for him to STFU. He's DRIVING people to vote for McCaskill (sp?) that wouldn't normally support her. I say keep up the good work Rush!!! :applause: :applause:

AND FURTHERMORE I think that if Dems pick up the Missouri seat, the DNC should send Rush a bouquet of flowers with a note saying "Thanks for all the help, couldn't have done it without you. Much love, and kiss our ass."
