I love good, helpful, constructive posts; a great break from all the angst that infests DU at election time.

6. Hey. It's goin' pretty good. 'Spent some of yesterday listening to

Jackson Browne tapes and then did a little envelope-stuffing.

I'm excited about the election because even the more conservative polling outfits show Democrats with an edge, especially in the House.

But we've got to take time out once in a while for a little music and a film.

If you like Martin Scorsese films, be sure to catch THE DEPARTED. Not for the faint of heart, but the thing crackles. Some top-drawer acting, too.

7. Things are looking better than anyone could have expected

a year ago, or 6 months ago, come to think of it. But it's getting pretty frantic in these forums. Can't blame anyone - the optimists, the pessimists, the skeptics, the advocates, the idealists and the cynics - for their passion, but some of this week's threads... wow.

You're right about music. I should be writing some, just got a little gig to score an experimental digital short. But it's much easier to listen to somebody else's stuff!

Thanks for the tip about The Departed. Impressive cast. Other than Gangs of New York, never seen a Scorsese movie I didn't like. Hmm, I'm turning GDP into the Lounge here!
