Sen Bob Kerrey is crapping all over bush on Franken's show
Kicking ass, calling them liars; that rice cannot say she was not told about the pending attack; that they did nothing to fight or prepare for terror during the first eight months of the first term; that the republican congress has failed the american people for not conducting hearings into everything Iraq; that bush's cronies (not experts) were put into jobs in Iraq based only on loyalty; that bush is responsible for the deaths of our kids regardless of what he says. Very nice. Take that to meet the press Senator.

1. He was out campaigning w/ Lieberman the other day,
and has given him his endorsement. I have lost all respect for him as a result.

5. I agree with your condemnation, but
he does have a great deal of credibility when talking about anything 9-11 and its relation to the bush white house.

7. Still wish they hadn't accepted the terms to not speak of matters left out

of the report - like that they KNEW Condi lied to congress. That's a BIG thing to commit to, and can look like complicity in the coverup.

CITIZENS need facts and truth to inform their votes. The 9-11 commission didn't respect the people enough as citizens to share the absolute truth with them.

18. No doubt. I agree with you on that.
That having been said, he's dead to me, as are all Democrats who supported Lieberman in his arrogant and destructive bid to override the will of the CT voters.

3. True but don't forget that Bob Kerrey was chomping at the bit to invade!
I listened to the audio of "New School" Students debating with him BEFORE the invasion of Iraq. Kerrey was all excited about the good things we'd do over there once we invaded and occupied Iraq. It would be interesting to check on his investments within the Military Industrial Complex. ;)

But it's good news when the Democratic warmongers are beginning to jump BushCo's ship. Soon Republican neo-con rats will follow. :-)

4. It was horrifying that 9-11 commission prevented them talking till after
election about what was uncovered in the report reBush's negligence. They were banned from using any of it during the campaign.

The Dem commissioners should never have agreed to it. The same with Biden and other Dem senators who promised Bush they wouldn't "politicize" the Iraq war until AFTER the 2004 election.

Bob Kerrey can be great on camera - unfortunately, lately, he's been doing it for Joe Lieberman.

6. Whatever happened to Kerrey's
presidential ambitions? I remember in the mid-90s he was being touted as the next up-and-comer, then it seems he just fizzled. Or did he realize he wanted no part of that fray?

10. Kerrey ran in '92 but never managed to get above the fray
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 12:19 PM by Hippo_Tron
I'd imagine that he considered running again in 2000 but he was notorious for sleeping around and after the Monica affair I would imagine that he realized it would significantly handicap him. That's just pure speculation on my part, though. That being said, he's very charismatic and certainly was a lot more liberal than state that he represented (Nebraska).

Also I gotta love him for saying, "Santorum, isn't that Latin for asshole?"

11. Gee, I think the little tidbit of what happened in that hooch in
Viet Nam had more to do with it than his sexual escapades. He was single. He had nothing to account for to anyone in that area.

Killing old people, women, and children is a different story. And the fact that he hid it for years, only admitting to the truth just before someone else that was there was going to come out with the story.

If you're curious, research it. I'm at work and the info is on my computer at home.

15. I know. But there was still talk about his running for pResident
here. I don't know about where you are, but I do know what was going on here and how Nebraskans really thought they had a contender.

Then he called his press conference and viola, he's teaching in an Eastern college.

17. Hrmm, that does make sense
Thanks for shedding some light on this. I can imagine this story about to break would suddenly get him to change his mind.

19. There were rumors much earlier
Also it was clear the party thought Gore - who had been a great VP, actually doing something in a job that typically has no power - should get the nomination. Bradley had a hard time getting support.

16. I met him when my oldest attended New School for a few years
He is charismatic. The students aren't all that thrilled with him. They see him as pretty autocratic - caveat: from viewpoint of ONE kid. He had some problem with unionization of school employees. They also hated that he puts out statemnets on Iraq giving his title as President of New School. He would be better to say former Senator.

14. He lost to Clinton in 1992
He got in trouble for some off color (I think) joke he told to Clinton that was picked up on tape. (I think Clinton had the goos sense NOT to respond to it on the tape)

Later in the late 90s, the NYT reported that he had been involved in a VN incident where people under his command killed civilians.

I find that offensive.

on the issue of 9-11 and bush's involvement, he is a subject matter expert.

12. For me the best part was when he said
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 12:29 PM by phiddle
"I have no doubt that Democrats will prosecute the war on terror more effectively". He went on to detail a "long list" of things that need to be done: implement and FULLY FUND the 9/11 commission recommendations, improve infrastructure defense, etc.
He also made a great case for withdrawal from Iraq (paraphrasing): "You can't stay in a country where 70% of the people want you out and 60% think that it's OK to shoot at you".
This interview should be required listening for all Dem campaigns.
