2. It's the hair man.

Because he is the only Presidential candidate with worse hair than me, I am throwing my full support behind him!

4. ANYONE BUT BUSH -
I am definitely an "anyone but Bush" type of person. I admit that I'm glad Lieberman's out but I would have voted for him if I'd had to. IMHO anyone who believes that "their candidate" is the only way to go is misguided. Bush and his gang of thugs are madmen who(and I mean that literally) must be removed.

6. I like John Kerry. I like most of the candidates.
John Kerry has a strong liberal record and I will gladly vote for him if he is the nominee.

7. I have always liked John Kerry
I still do. I didn't think he was an engaging enough speaker to make the kind of connection to people to win a national campaign, but the evidence is mounting up that I was wrong about that. I admire his liberal record, his courage in Vietnam and his courage in opposing that war. I never blamed him for the recent votes. I'm not going to get into that here and now, but I believe both were tough calls at the time. Neither would be so tough now, but that's hindsight. Neither do I expect to like every vote of anyone who's been in public life so long, nor do I hold him personally responsible for not being able to singlehandedly stop the march to the right in this country. I do believe that he has the good of the people at heart and that he'd make a fine president. Anyone who is elected is going to have a huge job trying to clean up the mess this administration made and the next president won't be able to make us all happy, but I think Kerry could do a good job of correcting the course.

9. Just good enough to get you beat
That was my DU assessment of Kerry last February, after watching the Roe v. Wade anniversary dinner with our presidential candidates speaking as a group for the first time. Unfortunately, nothing has changed to alter my opinion.

Frankly, it really doesn't matter what DUers think of John Kerry. He will carry the base, as evidenced by virtually every primary.

Minus a personality tranfusion and a designated pinch-speaker, Kerry simply is not inspiring or likeable enough to sway enough key independents to defeat an incumbent with decent favorability ratings. We desperately needed someone with charisma resembling Clinton, not Gore.

Kerry will need every break regarding the economy and Iraq. Otherwise, I would peg Bush as a 2 to 3 point favorite.

13. I have been aware of Kerry since the 80's.
I respect alot of what he did.

His Vietnem service particularly rings true with me. I have a close family member who served, and came home to actively protest the war.

I respect the fact that John Kerry did this, even going so far as to toss a friends medals over the fence at the Whithouse.

What leads me to a slightly unfavorable view of him, at least in the context of this election, is that I see so much better in other candidates.

I will not go into what, or why, I believe this now, and do not want flames.

But I simply believe that a career politician is what we need right now.

I am looking for an outsider who has the experiance to get the job done. And a man that I can trust.

I will vote for the nominee, but in my opinion we have just what I am looking for.

And I think it is sad that this man has almost no chance.

15. He is good on environmental issues but in my view...
he lost me on Iraq, Patriot Act, and failing to vote Medicare. Plus he just strikes me as just aloof and of course he is a Washington insider. Also supports "Free" trade. I also do not think he can win against Bush. If he gets the nomination I will vote for him but that's as far as I go.

16. It will be business as usual
When all is said and done nothing will really change or get done. Kerry will do some things liberals like such as appoint pro choice and pro civil rights judges but by and by it will be business as usual. The powerful will get everything they want and the people will continue to get screwed over.
