I wish that all the popular websites put...
..."ELECTION DAY IS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2006" on top of the page for the two weeks before the election.

It would be a much easier way to promote voting than volunteers-for-Democrats and volunteers-for-Republicans making thousands of phone calls.

Anyway, if you have a website, you can put a reminder on top of the page about the election, like I did:

3. And I did...
It's a very good point.

Maybe I should recommend it to some of the other American authors I know.

4. I disagree
If people aren't smart enough to know and care when election day is, I don't want them voting.

5. GOP misinformation campaigns are notorious for telling
people, espcially in minority precincts, the wrong voting day. Plus, there are the undecideds who are pissed but maybe squishy about getting off their butts and voting. The message can never be repeated enough, IMHO. If doing this gets out one more (D) vote anywhere, it's worth doing.

8. A person may have decent knowledge of politicians, but...
...not be thinking in terms of "What is the date of the next election?"

That is why we need to spread the info that Election Day is Tuesday, November 7, 2006.

6. The purpose of calling is not just to remind people of the right day. It is
also to find out how people are going to vote and whether or not they need prompting and a drive to the polls. Also information of early voting..etc.

There is alot in there..in them calls. We have to pull out all the stops and telephone calls are the way to go.
