BUSH DEBT = 4,114' TOWER OF CASH ATOP A FOOTBALL FIELD
The Right hides it true intent to sabotage government with irresponsible tax cuts with phrases like "it's your money" and pretends tax cuts are necessary for economic growth. The Right also exploits the public's inability to comprehend a million from a billion from a trillion.

Yet it's not rocket science to counter this.

A few days ago I proposed an idea for a generic Democratic TV ad. The original concept came from http://www.crunchweb.net/87billion

If Bush's debt to date is 2,822.154844491 BILLION (source: http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/~www/opdpen.cgi)
then if my math is correct it amounts to a tower of tightly packed $1 bills 4114' high stacked above a football field (100x300')

I can't take credit for this specific idea since I found it on a blog, but imagine TV ads during sports events (male demographic) and using a football field for scale... show an animation of how much big a pile of cash Bush's debt looks atop that field. I think it would make all but the most braindead dittoheads sick and hopefully angry enough to rethink voting GOP. Add a tag line that Bush/GOP has run up such a big deficit we can't even pay to defend ourselves without loans from Red China.

See the potential?

Here are the numbers which sound right but I can't verify...

A dollar bill is 6.125" x 2.625" x .0047"

That means...

$1.00 bill = .0755671 cubic inches.

$22867.09 can fit in a cubic foot... at least mathematically.

$1 Billion....... 1000000000 / 22867.09 = 43,730.968 cubic feet of cash.

1. In a kind of surreal way it reminds me of the Pythonesque quip
"If all of the republican members of congress were laid end to end....I wouldn't be at all surprised.

2. I DO see the potential...
you need to do a youtube animated video yourself....you know, show the football field...with a layer of so much cash and say each layer equals such and such an amount...and keep adding layer upon layer until getting to the amount of our total debt...go for it...

5. thanks but graphs and animations....
Thanks but graphs and animations are beyond my meager capabilities.

But if anyone else can do it... or sell the idea to some campaigns. Fell free!! The clock is ticking. I've been contacting the DNC and Dems in tight races trying to get them to see the potential. But since I live in a safe Dem district/state... I'd never get to see if such ads are being run.

4. WTC towers were 208 x 208' x 1361 feet
According to http://en.structurae.de/structures/data/index.cfm?id=s0002118
each WTC tower was 208 x 208 x 1361 = 58,882,304 cubic feet.

That pile of cash comes out to 2.095970344502824 WTC towers. The coincidence is almost scary! That is if my math is right.

123,415,563 cubic feet of cash divided by 58,882,304 cubic feet for each WTC tower.
