Democrat Bob Casey Jr. picked up three big newspaper endorsements Sunday, including two papers that have previously backed incumbent U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum.
The Patriot-News editorial page wrote "Santorum has too many wrong answers for the problems of the day, while Casey will listen, learn and contribute in bipartisan fashion to the mounting challenges confronting the nation."
The Wilkes-Barre Citizens Voice said "Bob Casey has always been the same advocate for the public that he is in this election campaign. Bob Casey deserves the votes of the people of Pennsylvania to be their next U.S. senator."
The Morning Call of Allentown wrote "People vote for the national leaders they believe will best represent their own views and values. In this contest between two bright, ambitious men, Bob Casey Jr. better defines what those things mean in Pennsylvania."
Casey was also endorsed by his hometown Scranton Times-Tribune and the York Daily Record.
The Morning Call endorsed Santorum in 2000 and the Patriot-News endorsed him when he was first elected in 1994.
So far, Santorum has been endorsed by the Erie Times-News and Williamsport Sun-Gazette. Casey has also been endorsed by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Lancaster Intelligencer-Journal and the New Castle News.
