The Year The Democrats Punched Back
This time around, when the GOP campaign turned nasty, the Dems were ready and waiting

1. Fine article except, Kerry did fight back. The Dem's like Shumer
weren't there to back him up and the media was shamelessly biased towards Bush. Klein can be a jerk, and he is when he claims Kerry's response was "lamb like". Sheeez, klein needs to stop promoting inaccuracies.

4. I think Kerry would admit now...
that he was advised not to respond to the Swift Boaters because they thought it would only give the issue more attention. It was a mistake. He should have blown them out of the water when it first came out.

2. Alot of the Dems punching back THIS year were quiet in 2003 and 2004.

Now they want to take credit for opposing Bush when other Dems were sticking their necks out pretty much on their own in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.

Where were all these tough guys in 2004 when Giuliani, McCain and Dole were out there EVERY NIGHT on the news channels in support of Bush?

It's like the front line who refused to take the field complaining that their quarterback was taking too many hits.

6. Fine article, considering it comes from Joe Klein, which makes it a
little bit irrelevant.
