New wave of disability claims adds to VA backlog |
|
27% of recently discharged combat veterans from Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom are lodging claims for service connected permanent disabilities with the VA.
This is prompting serious concern about whether VA has sufficient resources to process and pay for the increasing number of claims.
The VA has been criticized for AVERAGING 174 DAYS TO PROCESS AN INITIAL CLAIM WITH AN ACCURACY RATE OF 88%.
Compassionate conservatism at work. Our kids are getting blown up over there and pissed on over here. And "conservatives" do not give one flying dog fuck. The bush base will continue to vote for him until the Army and the VA come to a grinding halt and then the motherfuckers will blame someone else.

1. The only good news that might come from all of this crap |
|
is that we might see a resurgence in the push for civil rights for people with disabilities.
I wish none of these people were becoming disabled. I wish none of them had been sent off to kill and get maimed for the neo-cons. But now that it's all a done-deal I hope we've got some motivated, outspoken people coming back ready to speak up and advocate.

3. A caller on C-Span this am said that a large number of troops have |
|
committed suicide after returning from Iraq. He said that there are so many seeking help that the VA psychiatrists cannot handle the volume and are seeking civilian psychiatrists to help with the cases.
Of course anything to do with the BushWar is not a campaign issue so the public doesn't know what vets are facing.

4. Oh, well, these claims are all politically motivated |
|
Those military guys are trained to deceive the enemy, you know. Now, watch while I mimic a guy with a traumatic brain injury. (Disclaimer: I'm sure Rush Limbaugh would never do such a thing to mock a military veteran. Not because he's such a sensitive, caring guy, but because he's very careful not to piss off someone who might take direct action against him who is skilled in the use of firearms.)
