Hugo Chavez is Rove's October surprise?
The way the Chavez connection to U.S. voting machines is being reported makes me suspicious that Rove is pushing this reporting.

To the talking heads, this anti-Bush involvement in U.S. elections balances out all the fears that Republicans would steal the elections.

Rove is manipulating this, you can bet.

1. He's Not Getting Any Traction, Though
It's a little beyond tin foil, frankly. Desperate times in BushWorld.

2. Perhaps Worse
They might be setting the stage to annul the elections if the Dems win. But, surely, the Brave Congressional Dems would fight this to their last gasp of breath.

3. How about Diebold??
The idiot who runs that company loves Bush and even said that he would do whatever it takes to insure Bush won the election in 2004. Americans don't give a shit about Chavez. The election machines are owned by a Venezuelan company, not Chavez. The Repukes are beginning to look desperate.

4. If so, Rove is really out of touch
Consider, in an environment where Election Fraud is helping the Repukes, if you are a Repuke, you want to dummy up about it, not bring it up.

It can't help Rove, because Chavez is not running in the US, and is not a Democratic candidate.

5. sure it can help Rove
Rove's main method of gaining ground is in the midst of chaos. Examples: Election 2000. Election 2004. Katrina (where chaos = massive profits for Bushco cronies). Iraq (where even more chaos = even more massive profits for Bushco cronies. Rathergate. James A. Hatfield's book Fortunate Son.

In all of those instances (and those are just a few examples) Bush has profited through chaos and instability.

I can easily see several ways in which election chaos would be used by Rove. In fact, I believe some chaos will be instigated by him and his forces. He really has nothing to lose, about now.
