So I just got back from my Sunday Coffee with Grandma |
|
Twice a month I travel 30 minutes down the road to have coffee and breakfast with my grandmother (Nona) and two of her friends.
My grandmother is a strong Democrat. One of her friends is a Republican and the other is very independent.
So we talked politics. My grandmother would vote for a coffee table before she could vote for Bush. But the other two always interest me. I always enjoy talking to seniors, particularly because they are the strongest voting bloc. And these ladies know a thing or two.
Here are some of the comments:
Independent: "Kerry is a very formidable candidate, especially here in Ohio. I would be surprised if Bush could beat him. "They'll try to smear him, but people just don't trust Bush anymore." "The deficit spending is something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime."
Republican: "While I can't bring myself to vote for a Democrat, I think I'm just going to stay home this time around. Bush has been so disappointing. I really thought he would be a lot more moderate. Instead it's just taunting, very extreme." "We've become borrow and spend conservatives. The debtor party. I wish we would have nominated McCain."

I think a lot of Republicans are disappointed in their "leader". Not the wealthy elitist - the normal average Americans. I think many will vote their conscience.
