the most beautiful part about how this election is shaking out- |
|
IF, big IF, the votes are actually counted, and we have the dem landslide that appears to be shaping up, we are going to have a bunch of great progressives in the congress. so many of the dem candidates were supposed to be sacrificial lambs, sure kid go ahead, run against fat bastard hasturd, run against joe lieberman, run against macacca allen. do your civic duty like a good little citizen. we won't help you much, but go ahead. it makes it look more like a real democracy to have wide eyed innocents like you on the ticket. if the corporate dems had had any idea that ANY of these people were actually going to get elected, they would have made sure they got beat in the primaries. david goes to congress while goliath is asleep at the switch. i love it.

2. i loves me some howard, also. |

no doubt some of this is howard's doing. getting the corporate dems to sit still for it. and encouraging just this kind of person to run for it. yup. thank you howard.

I guess its a matter of definition and opinion. I'm a big Webb fan, but I'm also realistic that he's not as "progressive" as some Democrats. And that's going to be the case in a number of situations where Democrats unseat repubs in swing districts.
But any Democrat that we elect is an improvement over the alternative.

4. i was thinking more of some of the congressional |
|
dems. but you could put ned lamont in that pot. john laesh might win. he is kicking ass and taking names. hell, tammy duckworth is starting to grow on me. dr victoria wulsin. i know a couple of other who probably won't win, but will make a much bigger splash that was thought possible.
so, who else is in this group? today is better late than never contribution day for me. i am thinking i will send it to howard, mostly. maybe you can sell me on your favorite "lamb"

5. Diane Benson in Alaska |
|
http://www.bensonforcongress.com/30 points down a month ago against Don Young. Nine points down now with TV ads in the can but insufficient money to get them on air. And sadly, getting no financial assistance from the national party. She's the real thing.

Also you might enjoy reading this "letter to Alaskans" just recently posted on her site. This is, of course, directed to Alaskans, but you can kind of get a feel for what Diane is all about from this. http://www.bensonforcongress.com/files/BENSON%20LETTER%20TO%20THE%20PEOPLE%2006%20v2.pdf
