I mean, I know this guy is a moderate democrat, but he said somethings that impressed me because let's face it - this congress has NOT focused on working class folks in a a long time. I think Tennessee would be lucky to have someone like Ford as their senator (I mean compared to what they have now - it's a major step upwards).

1. I agree with you that he's better than the alternative,
... or what's there right now.

He's pro-gun, anti-gay, and supports the posting of the Ten Commandments in Public Buildings, so he's not a "moderate", he's a conservative.

What Tennesseans will get will be a Jesus-loving, gun-supporting believer that families should come first, that taxes should be lower and America should be strong. When Tennesseans send us to the Senate, that's what they'll get in my votes and that's what they'll get in the kind of leadership that we have not had in the Senate over the last six years. -- Harold Ford

But, I look forward to the day when our Party will do better than "better than what's there already." That's way too close to "the lesser of two evils" for me.

5. I hope someday soon this Party can run candidates that are better than
"this". Almost anyone is better than "this" --

and we all know it.

6. So what's the difference?
Just another asshole that is so convinced he is right, he is willing to force his opinions on the rest of the world, by violence if necessary.

3. Interesting to go to Project vote smart and look
at the interest group ratings.
For example he has had an F rating in one year by the NRA.

If anyone really wants to know where his positions are and not just campaign rhetoric ( and DU-rhetoric ), spend some time reading this:

7. I notice that he has moved from a strong ban-more-guns position
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 10:09 AM by benEzra
to a much more pro-gun-owner position in the last few years. That is a necessity for winning in Tennessee (and a lot of other places).
