Sheldon Whitehouse Dominated Lincoln Chafee During Their Debate
from The Roots: http://www.fromtheroots.org/story/2006/10/31/115730/68

Sheldon Whitehouse focused on Lincoln Chafee’s support for George Bush and the Republican’s policies on Iraq and Social Security in their final televised debate last night.

1. Any polls?
I don't think I've seen any polls from RI. Does anyone know how we are doing there?

2. Whitehouse is leading
Not by much though, but his lead is stable. Ever since Chafee won his primary, Whitehouse has been leading by 5-8 points.

3. If Chafee had switched parties
or just went I he would have been in their for life but it's time to clean house and it's guilt by association, if you maintain your R after your name you are one of them no matter how supposedly moderate.

4. I want Whitehouse to win, but I sure wish Chafee would defect to
our side.

His stance on many issues is outstanding and he frequently votes against *

.

Voted against the war!!

.

Supports gay marriage!! :wow:

.

Pro choice!!

.

Pro embryonic stem cell research!!

.

Pro gun control!!

.

Pro affirmative action!!

.

Opposes drilling in ANWR

AND THE BEST ONE . . .

.

Did not vote for the idiot in the White House in 2004. (Wrote in HW Bush instead!)

He's 10 times more liberal than LIEberman and a hand full of other Democratic Senators!!

5. Sheldon politely puts all of Chafee's equivocation between his politics and party
into perspective. It's past time for our Congress to move in the direction of true progressive change, and not just wallow in wishing the republican party will change.

6. {flame suit} I hope Chafee wins.
He's the only republican in the senate who deserves to keep his job.{/flame suit}

7. Yeah, that would be great
Let's make sure the GOP keeps the Senate.

You're probably at the wrong web site, if you really believe that.

10. His votes on the important issues are better than MANY of the most darling Democrats
I'd like for Democrats to take the senate, but I hate to lose such a good senator...who the hell knows how whitehouse is going to vote...judging from the votes of Kerry, Clinton, et. al....there's no telling how "good democrats" are going to vote, on even the most important of issues.

Just saying...Chafee's record is a damn sight better than many in the democratic senatorial caucus.

8. I definitely don't want to lose any Senator who voted against the Iraq War...
maybe he'll move to Maine and run again?

11. It really is a shame. I would have no trouble voting for someone
like him if he didn't call himself a republican, but he does. But I don't live in Rhode Island, so I won't be voting for either of them.
