John Kerry and the lesson of Jessica Lynch... |
|
we all remember Jessica Lynch don't we?
A poor West Virginia girl who dreamed of becoming a school teacher but knew she could never afford college on her own so she joined the Army to take advantage of the educational benefits to improve herself. He convoy was ambushed. Her best friend was killed and she was taken prisoner.
She was eventually rescued (although there is some question as to whether she was actually in need of rescuing or just needed to be taken home. The administration, although nobody knows exactly WHO in the administration concocted a bullshit story about her fighting until the last bullet, being beaten and tortured by her Iraqi captors, and insinuations that she was sexually assaulted....none of which proved to be true. Jessica was (and as far as I know, still is) a sweet, attractive, naive young lady from a small town in West Virginia.
So just what does this have to do with John Kerry?
Well, it just turns out that John was telling a truth we already knew. And what is that truth?
That if you didn't happen to win the "lucky sperm contest", there are very few opportunities out there for you to ever improve your lot in life. And unfortunately one of the few, very few, paths out of poverty and circumstance is the United States Military. So if you DO happen to drop out of college, and need to find a job capable of supporting a family at some level above poverty, one of the few paths available is military and eventually that path leads to Iraq.
Jessica Lynch was one a prime example of this terrible truth. And somehow or another, we've forgotten that....we've forgotten that Jessica is, an was, one of the first victims of George W. Bush's new America....
What do you think?

1. I think Kerry fumbled a joke about the President's intelligence |
|
and had no intention of discussing going to college vs. joining the military.
But thank you for the reminder of the Administrations abuse of the Jessica Lynch situation. (I don't remember any Democratic pundits making fun of her condition or stating that she was exaggerating her condition).

2. The odd thing about this who story is that BOTH scenarios are TRUE. |
|
The joke he was making about Bush's stupidity in not studying about Iraq first, AND the way it COULD be assessed that he was saying that those with access to college don't HAVE to be faced with the decision to choose the military.
Very odd thing about the whole episode. TRUTH is told and it's BOTH Truths that BushInc will run from, so they twist it FURTHER by saying Kerry was mocking the troops.
