I encourage all of you to join me in making last minute donations to any local, state or federal Democratic candidate running this year or campaign committee (DSCC or DCCC). Its simple, make a donation (any denomination will do) and then please post a note with the candidate, the office and date (posting amount is optional but don't feel the need to that). You may also want to post the candidate's web address.

It is my hope that this will have a viral effect by encouraging others to give and will snowball. Lets see how many DUers we can get to participate. Please, please, please, do not criticize any DUers choice of candidate (as long as they are Democrats) or comment on how much they chose to give. I want this to initiative to encourage participation and breed unity as we zero in on next week

DNC chief jumps into race
Early voting in Northbrook persuades party to wage battle for Kirk's seat

Democrat Dan Seals is finally getting the attention of the national Democrats in his drive to defeat Rep. Mark Kirk in a 10th District congressional race that is getting closer than expected.

The Democratic House political operation, after declining to initially spend any money on Seals in favor of better prospects, is paying for a series of direct-mail pieces in the closing week of the campaign after polls indicated Seals may be within striking distance of Kirk.

One small indication of interest in the Kirk-Seals contest: early voting in the village of Northbrook, which has the highest early turnout of any suburban municipality in Cook County, according to Cook County Clerk David Orr.

Seals will also benefit from a fund-raiser today headlined by Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and Sen. Dick Durbin.

9. The JUF is the Jewish United Fund. They raise money by publishing

a book that has people's names in it and how much they donated so you can look up your neighbor. It's really not a Jewish idea in terms of biblical law which states that there should be a box and people don't know if you are putting money in or taking money out. But, the publishing the donation thing does work. They get lots of money for charities. Human nature.
