I just don't want to live in America anymore.
It's not an option for me to leave because of declining health and living at poverty level. It's heartbreaking to live in a country which is so divided and where the hate level of the controlling faction is off the chart.

I long for the country that I grew up in. There were always Democrats and Republicans but that was just a small part of who people where. It didn't rule their lives and control their every thought. It didn't drive people to hate and want to destroy people in the other party. I'm talking about the Republicans and their hatred of the Democrats that is so strong that they want to destroy them which is well on the way to destroying America.

It is such a sad day today. The attacks on John Kerry are continuing to the extent that Andrea Mitchell brought on Lynne Cheney to finish him off. I'm sick and tired of it.

John Kerry is fine man and was a breath of fresh air when he came back from Viet Nam and worked against that outrageous war. I lived through those days and remember Kerry well. In those years we had many young men like Kerry, Julian Bond and others who came to our Democratic conventions to speak and gave us great hope. Barak Obama was not a new phenomenon. We have a long history of young inspirational persons who we knew would become our future leaders. Kerry was one of those persons and it hurts my heart to see him being slain by Republican hatemongers.

If I had the health and means I would be making arrangements to leave America today. America will not be great again. America has been brought down by greed and hatred and false christians.

1. I know the feeling
but America is my country and damn if I will turn it over to these fascists without a fight. They can come and get me, they can do what they want with me but I am not giving up. We are the patriots not them and they can't have my country.

2. It's a shame
that the hate-mongers have turned this once great land of freedom, openness and opportunity into a bastion of divisiveness and repression. I hope things can be turned around but I am not sure that is the case. If I had the money I'd be looking for a new country to live in myself, but I do not so I'm making do with what I have. We will simply have to fight back against the monsters that have corrupted our country. Hate does not have to reign supreme.

4. Let me share a quote that comforts me when I'm down...
Note- with HOPE in your heart- that these earlier Americans always found their way to the light and we can, too.- K. Olbermann

Don't lose faith in the good, authentic people in this country. These have been dark days, indeed, however we will find the light once again. I believe that with my entire being.

Take good care. We're fighting the good fight and it 'aint over yet, ok? (((((hugs)))))

9. Thanks for the hugs.
Thanks too to all the others that posted.

This hatemongering filters its way into everyday situations. I had to call to make an appointment at the clinic for an annual test. I was treated so badly it mad me sad. There is such a lack of compassion and charity now in how we treat people, how we speak to them.

It is deeply rooted. There is something very wrong. I've seen better times and long for more of them.

5. Good job playing into the Republican's hands. No offense, but they
want people like you to surrender.

"If you don't like it here, leave."

Haven't you heard that from the Repukes??

I want to live in America and I will stay in America because I will not let them win.

Ever.

6. Let the uglies fight it out.

The Republicans have made America a vile and deservedly hated nation. I'm so tired of these ugly, vile, despicable, hate-filled people shilling on our airwaves 24-7 about perceived slights against a demographic they readily exploit at every turn, but don't give a damn about. Tens of thousands of soldiers have been maimed, thousands killed, and they cut veterans benefits and sit by while widows and military families lose their houses and have to wait in line for government food. They need to go the fuck away. Forever. Let them have their stupid little shit smear. It's all they have-The Shit Smear. If Hitler had their ilk, he'd have won WWII. They jump all over Kerry's insignificant remark, but turn their heads when one of their kind preys on the vulnerable, or bilks the elderly out of their retirement savings, or steals billions from the public treasury. Again, FUCK THEM.

7. With ya.
I am in the same boat as you, your last sentence sums up my situation to a T. It is too late for me though, if I can get on my feet, I will devote my time to fighting what this Nation has become. I know in my heart that the Dems won't really make a big difference, I remember who was in charge in 68. I recall our biggest liberal icon Ms. Boxer, calling Chavez a thug, jumping aboard the Bankruptcy bill, the People don't really have many that friends. Business runs this Country, they won't stop. They own too many Democrats already (right, Rahm?)

I'd like to stay and try to make a small difference. A non-profit would be fine, I already know I can live on next to nothing...

10. Thank Limpballs and all of his clones
Cowardly, stupid, pandering, lying, fear-mongering losers who aren't fit to wipe Kerry's ass. If they weren't such cowards they would actually debate him face-to-face, but, like their leader Smirk, they are afraid of speaking to anything but a fawning crowd.

If I were the Dems, I would start using the word coward every time I mentioned ANY republican.

11. My very favorite Gandhi quote always sees me through
"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall - think of it, always."

I hope it helps you, too.
