Allen, GOP seek to shift blame for attack on blogger to Webb

LEESBURG, Va. Republican Senator George Allen is accusing his Democratic opponent, Jim Webb, of provoking yesterday's videotaped confrontation between Allen supporters and a liberal blogger.

Men wearing blue Allen lapel stickers put University of Virginia law student Michael Stark in a chokehold and slammed him to the floor yesterday after an Allen rally in Charlottesville.

Allen was asked today if he regretted the conduct of his supporters. He put the blame on Webb, saying Stark's behavior was typical of the Webb campaign.

Webb says he does not know Stark. But he says he regrets ... quote ... "the conduct of certain people there yesterday."

Allen had just finished a rally with Senator Elizabeth Dole before the incident took place.

Dole issued a statement demanding an apology from Webb.

5. Republicans are becoming silly now

Allen's goons attack a man who asked a question that might embarrass him, rough him up, and Dole and Allen are asking WEBB to apologize? Things like this are why I didn't see any reason for Kerry to apologize for a damned thing. All Republicans do is blame others, point their fingers, and never, ever accept responsibility for anything. Webb wasn't even there, and Felix Macaca demands that he apologize. A guy who has such a twisted sense of what is appropriate has no business holding federal office. He obviously has very poor judgment, and no capacity at all for rational thinking.

consistently...just look at the Kerry issue. The media, always siding with GW and the neo-cons plays it up and the rw-machine goes into effect creating a frenzy. I think / hope/ the public is waking up to the insanity and nonsensical way in which they operate. They created the "truth" and then act from their creation.
