You know when I first heard about this whole Kerry thing yesterday I just shrugged and didn't think about it twice. Then, later in the day, I saw several posts dedicated to it and was puzzled why people were so fixated on it. Now today I think the whole thing is hilarious.
Why?
Because, ladies and Gentlemen, no one gives a rats ass about what John Kerry said.
I see the Republicans trying to turn this into a story. I see them trying really hard to spin this. I mean Kerry probably should have chosen his words better, and this goes to show that Kerry really isn't that great of a communicator, but no one but Republican idiots are talking about this.
Think about it?
Why would the GOP be spinning a story made by a junior Senator (who isn't running for anything this year) about a war no one agrees with?
The answer: They are scared shitless, that's why.
They can read polls and even Karl Rove is beginning to see the writing on the wall. They're going to lose the House, the majority of governorships and at least 5 Senate seats. They may even be blown out of the water completely with the Democrats picking up 50+ House seats, more than a dozen Governors races and 7 Senate seats.
If you believe that this will cost us even ONE House seat, or even ONE vote, you're sadly mistaken.
This is all feigned outrage by the Republicans. This is DESPERATION personified. After all, if they were so outraged why are they not demanding that House Majority Leader Boehner apologize for his comments about the Generals and the Troops being responsible for the Iraq debacle and not Rumsfeld? Because this is all politics. Why people like Hillary Clinton even lower themselves to respond to it is beyond me, but that's another story.
So I can't help but think back to all those elections where the Republicans were so dominant and I can't help to think to myself how pathetic the "party of Reagan" has become. It's actually kind of funny when you think about it. The big bad Republicans, huh? They threw all their money at us...and nothing. They spent 90% of it on NASTY negative ads...zilch. They had September 11th...not a thing. Democrats are cowards-defeatists-unAmerican-terrorists...laughable. Redistricting...may hurt them more than help. The North Koreans testing nuclear weapons...nothing. They even had gay marriage return as an issue last week...didn't even make a dent. They unleashed all of their greatest hits and NOTHING! My, oh my, how the mighty have fallen.
You honestly think this Kerry thing is going to hurt us? Come on people! Why because he told some college kids to stay in school so they won't get "stuck in Iraq?" You honestly think that's going to derail anything? We Democrats are so used to having things fall apart whenever the Republicans raise a ruckus. But not this time. If money, negative ads, September 11, North Korea launching nuclear tests, and gay marriage didn't save them. This sure as hell won't.
If you're all real quiet you may hear it. That sound you all hear is the Republican Majority falling apart at the seams. The stench you smell is death that surrounds the Republican Party now.
So cheer up motherfuckers and don't let the man spook ya. This time next week, we'll be in control of one and very possibly both chambers of Congress.
Then Bush will be the lamest of lame ducks and the real fun will begin.
