What do you think of Olbermann's spankings of Laura Bush?
Perhaps he remembers the attacks on Hillary Clinton from Scaife-paid talking heads who were deployed to destroy the then First Lady and her husband.

Perhaps he thinks that honest criticism of Laura Bush is not out of bounds, considering the hunting and hounding the VRWC did to the Clintons.

What do you think about it? His criticism of Laura is very mild. Should he push a little harder? Lord knows there's plenty of there there.

How would America react to criticism? She's been virtually untouchable for six years now.

3. Given the behavior of her children
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 02:13 AM by Greybnk48
I think we have only seen glimpses of the real Laura. Their behavior did not come out of a vacuum, and it's been crass to say the least.

Edited to add: I was not the least offended. It's about time she was linked to the rest of the scum. She is after all, an integral part of the group, although I do not see her as bright enough, or engaged enough to discuss policy. Go KO!!

4. If she is willing to go out and shill for this
administration she should be open to criticism. If she can take it, go back to the library. I thought Keith was spot on!

5. I was pleased...
as it showed the public just how ugly these people are to take someone with a relatively neutral or at least *more* thoughtful reputation and lower her to the same scummy level.

6. It's time that someone calls her out.
Not only did he go after Laura, but he went after that golden boy McCain.

Keith hit all the highlights tonight.

11. There was a time when Keith said on Dan Patrick's show
that although he doesn't vote, if given a choice he might have voted for McCain as president. I think his comment last night made it clear that he has left all thought of that kind of support behind.

And why shouldn't he go after Laura? She cast her lot with the man she cast it with a long time ago when she agreed to marry him. Now she's trapped into helping him support his web of lies. I maintain she was always an excellent candidate for the position, since from her own teenage years she's had to carry an agonizing secret of having inadvertently (and yes, I do believe it was inadvertent--utterly careless, but inadvertent) caused someone's death.

I think when something like that happens to you early, you begin to think of lies, coverups and soft-soaping the truth as a necessary survival skill just to have a normal life. Laura learned the lesson young, and she has never swerved from it: If you tell enough lies, cover your tracks well enough and find others to divert attention from your own mistakes that you can point fingers at, you can hold onto the trappings of your comfy life. So do it. Do it as if your life dpends on it--because it does.

13. A lot of people like McCain at first glance
because they perceive him to be a moderate. Remember the calls here back in '04 for a Kerry/McCain "unity" ticket?

McCain plays himself up as a moderate; in truth, he's as conservative as anybody in Washington. I would guess that Mr. Olbermann has figured that out.

I hope it's not true that he doesn't vote. If it is, I hope he's remedied that.

effective criticism. It would be hard for her not to cringe,
unless "buffered" one way or another.

14. I was so happy to see that !
Her comments about MJF were very insensitive and reeked of GOP Playbook for Dummies. This is why I love Keith, he calls bullsh*t when he hears it. Much like how he went after McCain too.

Reality has a liberal bias

15. If they can mock those who have lost limbs and have neurological
disorders (Cleland, Duckworth, Fox) then KO and I can call the First Lady out.

They started this in the Clinton admin (I still don't care for HC, but their criticisms went over the line) then we can finish it.

And please, you are our First Lady--get a new wardrobe person! Those suits are awful, just awful. Ugh.

If she opens her mouth and puts her foot in it, Olbermann or any one else so inclined is free to ram it down her throat.
