2. Ditto the above... I let my employees paid time off to vote |
|
As long as they want. One, a young man in his thirties, was not registered and had some excuse about "his vote didn't matter" for the past two elections. This time around he has proudly told me he is now registered and is going to vote.

9. I forgot to mention that we strongly endorse our employees voting. |
|
Just a little nudge, even though they aren't all as blue as we are.

when I worked at the Tx Dept of Public Safety, not only were we able to vote during the workday, but a trooper would be assigned to drive us to the precinct. Those were the days!

7. Don't know about the state law... |
|
but both of my jobs allow time off if your work schedule would prevent you otherwise making it to the polls. Which, practically speaking for my job, is never.
But, the allowance is there.
I actually just interviewed for a job in Illinois (live in MO now) where election day for statewide elections (every 2 years) is a holiday - you get the day off. Which would be great...I suspect that it's a holiday because the job is sort of under the IL Dept. of State.

Poll workers have a form that they can give to a voter if his employer requires it.
Most employers don't though. In the eight years I've worked the polls we haven't had a request for this form.
