Inflation picks up, consumer spending drops, stocks fall
Nov. 2 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks fell after a government report showed labor costs increased more than economists expected, suggesting inflation may accelerate and give the Federal Reserve less reason to cut interest rates.

``We're a bit vulnerable here,'' said David Briggs, senior vice president of equity trading at Federated Investment Management in Pittsburgh, which handles $30 billion in equities. Now the Fed isn't ``going to cut as quickly. We have nothing to look forward to now.''
