The RW cheap shot bolstered support for Kerry and knocked out Rumsfeld
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 11:06 AM by ProSense
A lot more people saw Kerry stand up to a weakened and desperate GOP when others were afraid to!

From the Kerry Blog:

Thanks to friends, both known and unknown, Republicans and Democrats, who’ve been stepping up for John Kerry and fighting back against the Republican efforts to question Kerry’s support of our troops.

Kerry has integrity and is not afraid to fight.

Kerry's massive list of supporters have not gone away.

This incident put Kerry in the spotlight, and even more people saw a man who the RW fear enough to continually attack, and a man who isn't afraid to fight back!

The RW cheap shot also brought Iraq back into focus with damning results for Rummy:

1. Real military leaders knew the attack on Kerry was a lie - Kerry supported
them on many serious issues of benefit to the military PERSONNEL and veterans for his entire career.

3. One you say "Support the troops" but continually attack individual
troops who served heroically, the troops notice.

6. There has always been a number of military leaders friendly to Dems who pushed
for their wellbeing and benefits for their families. Kerry and Wellstone were beacons in the senate for them for years. They know the truth about what happened. They promised not to stay silent again as they did during the swiftboating. They promised Kerry it would never happen again.

4. mostly silence from gop biggies in senate
The one's thinking the whole Kerry situation over have to think of the possible consequences, that is, if the dem's win the senate. People like John McCain went way to far to mend fences as did John "tan man" Boehner in the house.

7. Bill Maher: 4. When they say that actual combat veterans like John Kerry...
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 06:36 PM by ProSense
4. When they say that actual combat veterans like John Kerry are denigrating the troops, you say:

"You are completely full of shit." Remember when Al Gore caught all that flak for sighing and moaning during the debate? Yeah, don't do that -- just say, "You are full of shit. If I was a troop, the support I would want back home would mainly come in the form of people pressuring Washington to get me out of this pointless nightmare. That's how I would feel supported."

8. Let's not...
make Kerry into some sort of passionate martyr. He has his finger in the political wind just as he always has and he shifts when it's convenient. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, he just tends to be on the opportunistic side.

11. I think if you really examined his record
especially reading speeches he's given over time, you would see that he is consistent enough that I can find speeches from over a decade ago that could be given tomorrow (with updated references and numbers) and no one would thing it was an old speech.

Take a clue that the RW has tried since 1971 to label him a phony or as you did an opportunist. Their usual mode of operation is to turn things 180 degrees. A man who stands against Nixon, fully aware that it could preclude a much wanted career as a politician, who was the one man who wanted to investigate rumors that drugs were brought into the country to fund the contras, and was wiling to have the President and Senate mad at him because he was continuing to investigate BCCI. None of these gave him a political advantage - he did it because it was right.
