1. Where did this idiocy about Lieberman for Defense pop up?
I've heard it before and I can't figure out how it even works as a possibility.

For one thing, having spent so damn much to keep him in the Senate, it makes less than no sense to pull him out for something else.

2. The republican govenor gets to appoint a republican to replace him
he (Joe) has always been mentioned on the short list and he would do anything now to f**K the local Dem. Party in CT.

Let me say it would not shock me....

6. Let me say it would serve the voters of Connecticut right.
If they vote that pig back in, it would be exactly what they deserve: a rightwing Republican senator they never elected.

My most fervent prayer is to take enough seats in the Senate to make Joe irrelevant, no matter what happens.

by credible sources last fall as a means of making the GOP look more moderate, reaching out a hand to independents and Democrats. It was also meant to show a willingness to chance course. But it eventually fell through.

It'd be far less likely now. But many on Capital Hill saw it as inevitable for a short while last fall.

5. Bush hasn't the smallest desire to appear moderate.
That would be capitulation.
