Army tells potential recruits "war is over"!
How about you bring this up to the next asshole that says John Kerry disrespected our troops?

An ABC News undercover investigation showed Army recruiters telling students that the war in Iraq was over, in an effort to get them to enlist.

ABC News and New York affiliate WABC equipped students with hidden video cameras before they visited 10 Army recruitment offices in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

"Nobody is going over to Iraq anymore?" one student asks a recruiter.

"No, we're bringing people back," he replies.

"We're not at war. War ended a long time ago," another recruiter says.

In BushWorld, children are our future... war casualties. Goes to show if you don't read the papers or the blogs, and if you trust Bush's government, you get stuck in Iraq.

1. Oh, that's great.
"It's hard to believe some of things they are telling prospective applicants," Manning said. "I still believe that this is the exception more than the norm. … I've visited many stations myself, and I know that we have many wonderful Americans serving in uniform as recruiters."

This guy's either clueless or willfully ignorant. Of course these guys are going to put on their "integrity" faces when the brass comes through. We always clean up and put a little extra polish on the chrome whenever a DV is coming. He has to know this. He was a lieutenant at one time, wasn't he?

2. I just noticed the article's subhead...
"Colonel Says Incidents Are the Exception, Not the Rule."

Brings to mind this Python line: "As a naval officer I abhor the implication that the Royal Navy is a haven for cannibalism. It is well known that we now have the problem relatively under control."

3. That's a false contract because of the false verbal understanding. n/t

4. Without video of it...
...what are the chances that you'd be believed about that?

In typical Bush fashion, the fact that the lies are outrageous makes them less actionable. That's an idea best understood in the original German.

On a lighter note, I'm trying to recall the Goldie Hawn comedy "Private Benjamin," where she joins the Army, expecting it to be a breeze. Can't recall if a recruiter lied to her or not.
