Voter Suppression in Tom DeLay's District
Read all about it at the link below. A local Fort Bend County Commissioner, Andy Meyers, has started a sign campaign, all over the county, with a promised 75 signs to go up before Tuesday, saying "Encourage Terrorists Vote Democrat" and "Want More Illegals, Vote Democrat". The signs are 4x8 and we believe they are meant to suppress Hispanic and Muslim votes. Our county is increasingly diverse and there is a huge uproar over this.

Please give this your attention and spread the word!

1. The Signs
Here are the signs

Needless to say, the county commissioner who bought these signs has three of his children (ages 31, 36, and 38) living in his home. None of them has ever been in the military. Neither has the commissioner, of course.

The Texas Democratic Veterans are not happy about these signs.

3. suppress Hispanic and Muslim votes?
maybe, I'm sure that's a huge demographic. :sarcasm:

I'm sure it has nothing to do with getting out the racist republican vote. :eyes:

5. Actually -----
Fort Bend County is 21% Hispanic and 12% Asian. Nice little chunk of voters.

Islam in Asia
A roundup of issues facing the region's estimated 670 million Muslims

On edit: Can't find a good set of numbers for Asia, Africa, and Middle East - but have heard that most Muslims are Asian or African. We associate Islam with the Middle East, but the Middle East is a fairly small geographical region.

8. Good question. Largest Muslim population is in South Asia.
Not sure how that translates in terms of immigrants to America though.

4. Those signs need to say, "Encourage the terrorists...Vote Republican."
Now that's the truth!

10. It would take a lot more than that to stop me
Were I Muslim or Hispanic, it would still take a lot more than a silly sign on a bigot's front lawn to stop me from casting my vote.
