1. I find it disgusting
That people wouldn't vote to get Bush out of office just because our candidate isn't perfect. Think about what you're doing. This could be the end of the world, literally.

3. I love to see all those candidate signs in your sig
Any of them are worthy of being the nominee. Sure, only one will eventually win. But sadly "the end of the world" is no longer hyperbole when we're talking about what's at stake if Bush gets re-selected. If it comes down to "voting for the lesser of two evils" - then vote for the lesser of two evils! Or you've lost your right to complain about the second Bush* administration.

He may be conservative, but at least he's not a neo-con.

15. I don't think it's accurate.
Perhaps they vote in a non-binding, anonymous DU poll that way because the assumption that Kerry will be the nominee in November, before the primaries are over, before the convention, pisses them off.

I think you'll find that, when we actually have a nominee in place for November, that people will support him. Whoever it may be.

I'll vote for Kerry if he becomes the nominee.

Or more accurately, as your post implies, I'll vote AGAINST Bush et al., more than I will FOR Kerry.

17. First of all, unlike some Kerry supporters here,
Edited on Sun Feb-08-04 08:54 PM by deutsey
I've always been willing to vote for my candidate's chief rival if he wins the nomination. I've even come to Kerry's defense, despite the fact that I think he's kind of run of the mill.

Second of all, I've always said that I'll vote for the Democratic nominee, even if it was Lieberman.

Third of all, I'm tired of voting AGAINST a GOP candidate all the time. I'd rather vote FOR the Democratic candidate. So far, with very few exceptions, I've always voted against the GOP rather than for the Democrats. Clinton in '92 was really the only time in my voting life (beginning in '84) that I've voted for someone rather against a Republican in a presidential race.

Unfortunately, if Kerry wins the nomination, looks like the pattern will continue. Voting against Bush rather than for Kerry.

Yippee. Thanks, Democrats. :eyes:

18. I take the 'extreme' position on bogus polls.
You can probably derive what my vote was on this particular poll. Which is bogus. If Kerry isn't nominated come Nov, then it would seem rather stupid to get behind him, huh?

27. I suspect..
that the original poster tried to fit the lyrics of Veruca Salt's "I Want the World" into the last answer space, but they wouldn't all fit.

Remember Veruca Salt from "Willy Wonka"? She wanted everything, and ended-up empty-handed and unhappy.

.....

Imagine this: Bush wins in November. O'Connor and Rehnquist retire. Ginsburg falls out of cancer remission and has to step-down. Stevens (now in his mid-80's) dies suddenly. With Bush naming replacements, we'd end-up with a 6-1-2 conservative-moderate-liberal court. Of course, that's not reason enough to vote for the nominee for some special folks..

Reminds me of Eric Cartman.. "Screw you guys - I'm goin' home!"

25. Other-- John Kerry
Nevermind the loonies. John Kerry's a better choice than anything the Republicans have to offer. Even the sane ones pale in comparison.

Here's one particular. Progress in science and technology. John Kerry has been leading the fight for stem-cell research, and going against Bush's anti-science agenda. Kerry will be able to muster bipartisan support for pro-science policies. Even though many Republicans disagree with the current administration's policies, the Republican Party is too beholden to their fundie base to be able to govern that way. Kerry can and will promote progress in science and medicine.

Check out Kerry's speech at Stanford. This is a guy who understands our national interest in science and technology, and what we need to do to promote further growth. Targetted tax cuts, combined with provisions for favoring long-term investors over professional traders, will encourage investments in new technologies and make the best use of the talents of our egineers and scientists. And investment in our education system will ensure that we will have a pool of talented scientists and engineers to draw from.

A lot of us have the dream of energy independence. It's within the realm of the possible, but it's not going to happen by accident or force of circumstances, or by voting for Republicans. Sooner or later we're going to have to take the bull by the horns and do things to make it happen. Come November, we're going to have the opportunity to do just that.

26. Very depressing
One-third of the voters will sit out the GE if Kerry is the nominee.

Absolutely un-f***ingbelievable.

You might as well just vote for Bush.

Grow up DUers. 2000 was the year for idealism and look what we got. If you like what Bush has gotten away with so far just wait for him to be reelected. You ain't seen nothing yet.

I could name plenty of things about Kerry that I'm not thrilled with but he will be no worse than Clinton and will probably be much better .

Get real.

You expect us to welcome him back with open arms when he came out of his hole to make a run at the White House? SCREW THAT. In for a penny, in for a pound. I'm not getting behind this fair-weather leadership.

This party needs an enema.
