Killer e-mail sends Blair into panic over cash for honours row
Hope it's OK to post a UK political story in here.

If this story is correct BLiar could be in deepest poo; the article appeared on 05/11. I'm going to try getting additional information because the implications for Tony Boy are a tad HUGH!!!

<snip1>

When the police investigation was first launched, some Ministers said the officers were merely going through the motions.

They have been rocked at the persistence shown by the inquiry leader, Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner John Yates. Sources close to Mr Yates say he has indicated he intends to interview Mr Blair under 'criminal caution' - which implies Mr Blair is being treated as a potential suspect.

The threat has caused fear and fury in Downing Street. Mr Blair is now said to be 'very worried' that he could be implicated as a result of the vast quantity of evidence obtained by police.

</snip1>

<snip2>

Mr Yates is said to be more confident than ever that he has firm evidence that proves the award of peerages is linked to donations.

</snip2>

Oh dear Tony...

2. Interesting note in there
"Mr Blair intends to take legal advice from law firm Kingsley Napley, which helped Chilean dictator General Pinochet avoid extradition from the UK on torture charges." Given subsequent and current events ref. Pinochet that helps demonstrate the old boys act over here.

I've no reason to doubt the truth in that news item although it's not for nothing that Private Eye has referred to them as the Daily Lie since at least the '70s.

I'm guessing that despite Asst. Comm. Yates relentlessness that he will be lent on and the case
"disappeared" or some insignificant little dickhead used as a fall guy.

3. The Daily Mail are inclined to be sensational
and they don't like Blair, for opposite reasons to most UKDU-ers (he's too left-wing for them).

But I hope it does turn out to be true! To see Blair go down to some sleazy little scandal, where he can't even represent himself as a political martyr, would be just the sort of humiliation he deserves - and I hope it happens soon, so that the Labour Party can sort out their leadership significantly before the next election.
