Is casting a ballot on a machine which does not have a papertrail |
|
constitutional? Is there anything in our constitution regarding voting that says there must be a papertrail? If a voter refuses to vote on one of these touch screens because there is no papertrail, is there any recourse? or have any laws been broken? I just can't imagine that somewhere in our constitution this isn't covered.........how can a candidate in a close election ask for a recount? Wouldn't the candidate then be able to file suit or something?
It really distresses me to have to vote on a system that can never be recounted if needed let alone be hacked to sway whichever way it's been programmed to go.

2. I'm not sure about this |
|
but I don't think our Constitution has anything in it about voting at all. I just would say that I hope they will give you some kind of paper ballot, and if they won't, vote anyway. I guess some people are bringing cell phones into booths with them in case anything funny happens which can be seen at the time you vote.
After this election we have to keep working to get things changed so there is always a paper trail.

3. It's not only the "casting" but the TABULATING............. |
|
When you involve a computer in the process, anything can happen. What if we win the "papertrail" battle only to be cheated in the "tabulation" process. I think is reasonable to believe that they could have a paper print out what was cast, but then in the tabulation phase, make the numbers go anyway they want......it's more about the TABULATION of votes cast then about the papertrail.......that's my thoughts anyway. I guess I don't trust anyone in power, since this admin has been so corrupt and everytime one of them opens their lips, nothing but lies spew........

4. There was no paper trail where I voted; I asked for a paper ballot |
|
and was told no. Vote anyway. I don't think the writers of the Constitution considered computers in their future. And hopefully amendments will be added in our future.

6. There's nothing in the US Constitution about it |
|
The US Constitution does not even grant Americans the right to vote; it merely protects the rights of certain voters not to be disenfranchised via amendment.
I say again, voting is a privilege but not a constitutionally guaranteed right. WE NEED TO FIX THAT!
As for requiring a voter-verified papertrail, some states have seen the light and do. Others, like mine (FL), refuse to provide them. For some (dubious) reason they don't seem to think they're necessary.
