TAKE ACTION against possible vote fraud! If you have a camera cell phone... |
|
...take a picture of your completed optical scan ballot, both sides (if it's two-sided) and if you vote touch-screen, take a picture of the actual selection screen before you submit the vote, and the verification screen after.
Be sure that your date/time stamp is on.
If ANYTHING wonky comes up, use those pics when filing a complaint.

1. Be careful! Depending on where you are you may be in violation |
|
of voting law by having a recording device of any kind. Has to do with voter intimidation and recording the ballot for "sale" of your vote.
Do not do this in Texas!

Is it in the voter code? I was going to do this. The slimy bastards have all sorts of mechanisms in place to keep us from having our vote counted, don't they?

3. Yep, afraid so. You can be evicted from the polling place. |
|
As a poll watcher I have to sign an affidavit that I have no recording equipment of any kind--except a pencil and note pad.

4. hmmmm.... Interesting. Well, in THAT case... |
|
...I suggest that EVERYONE take a note pad and pencil with them, and note the EXACT time of their vote, the number of their voting machine, and the precise votes they intended. If you can't readily see the number of your machine, get the poll worker to show you (on some models it's on the back.)
For those preparing optical scan ballots, record the number of your receipt, if any, the EXACT time your ballot was scanned, and the precise votes intended.
Do it all with a cheerful smile and a pleasant attitude.
Precise times are a last resort in helping track your vote if there is a question.
Until we get VOTER VERIFIED PAPER RECORD voting, we'll just have to do the best we can. Let's put VOTER VERIFIED PAPER RECORD voting in the top ten or so of agenda items for the new Congress, shall we?

Good advice. I'll have to do my best with what I have. Considering how much I hate Ralph Hall (and have been mailing back his propaganda with slurs all over it), if those bastards flip my vote, they will not like the reaction they get.
I'm tempted to toss the thing on the floor and break it. We just got them a couple months ago. Up until 2004, we had scantrons with sharpies too.

6. How would you know it was flipped, beyond your final screen? |
|
Here in TN, the final screen show WHO you voted for and gives you 2 chances to revise (back-up) or continue. How whould you be able to prove anything? Maybe in the scanner device the cards are loaded into? Only the Commission can have access there, I thought.
