15 minutes from the first exit poll data?

This morning on the way to work I heard some "expert" talking about the windowless phoneless room that all the major networks have two guys sitting in analyzing the exit poll data. Of course he spun in there about how the exit polls have been wrong the last few elections but he said that at 5 PM they would start reporting on the exit polls.

1. At 5pm EST they are allowed out to report back to their networks.
How FAST wil they get that stuff on the air? Will they blast it out or wait until the real numbers begin coming in???

2. The exit data was not wrong. The election results just didn't match.
And we all know why.

5. They can't say too much too soon, or they'll hurt their ad revenue
:eyes:

I don't expect much more than a good indication of turn out from the early stuff.

12. Don't believe the exit poll crap
They are designed to make the Democrats not go vote after work. STILL GO VOTE. They will say the DEMS are leading, so we won't go vote. Fuck the Exit Polls. excuse me

14. I know I know -I said "spun"
I know the exit polls are more accurate than at least the first attempt at counting.

16. ACCORDING to this......
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 05:12 PM by FrenchieCat
This year the networks say they are guarding their exit poll results
as if they were crown jewels. The results will be delivered to a
"quarantine room," access to which will be granted to only two
staffers from each network and wire service, who must surrender
all cell phones, BlackBerrys and similar devices before entering
the room. Such precautions are designed to prevent preliminary
results, often wrong in 2000 and 2004, from being posted on
Web sites like the Drudge Report.

at 5 p.m. will the occupants of the quarantine room be allowed
to reveal the exit polls to their bosses. The networks claim to have
completely revamped their exit-poll methodology, which in 2004
had surveys in which the results, collected mostly by female graduate
students, consistently favored Democrats. The changes will mean the
networks will be slower to call the winners. That and the difficulty of
adjusting for the large number of absentee ballots could mean a
longer night than usual.
