Support the DLC
There is a stereotype that the Democratic Party is a party of liberals with liberal ideals. Nothing could be further from the truth! The Democratic Leadership Council is NOT liberal - they are a concerned group of moderate, centrist Democrats who are elected leaders. They are assoicated with the New Democrat Network, also not liberals. Here's some of their positions:

http://www.ndol.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=86&subid=194&contentid=3775

"We believe that economic growth generated in the private sector is the prerequisite for opportunity, and that government's role is to promote growth and to equip Americans with the tools they need to prosper in the New Economy."

"We believe America has a responsibility to lead the world toward greater political and economic freedom. "

"An information-, technology-driven, and ever more global New Economy that is changing the way Americans work, live, and communicate with each other. "

"A population that is rapidly becoming more diverse, more affluent, more educated, more suburban, more "wired," less political, and more centrist."

"As New Democrats, we believe in a Third Way that rejects the old left-right debate and affirms America's basic bargain: opportunity for all, responsibility from all, and community of all. "

"We believe in free enterprise to stimulate economic innovation and growth and in public activism to ensure that everyone can share in America's prosperity. "

"We believe in expanding trade and investment because we must be a party of economic progress, not economic reaction."

"We believe that public policies should reinforce marriage, promote family, demand parental responsibility, and discourage out-of-wedlock births."

"We believe government should harness the forces of choice and competition to achieve public goals."

The only way the Democratic Party will grow and become the majority is if we jettison the failed policies of the past for the successful policies of the future - Free Trade, Competition, School Vouchers, Union-Free Workplaces, and a Strong National Defense and a Willingness to Use Force to Spread Democracy.

Some Famous New Democrat DLCers - Bill Clinton, Joe Lieberman, Evan Bayh, and Zell Miller.

If we continue to move the Democratic Party towards the center, the Republicans will NEVER be able to accuse us of being "Liberals" ever again!
