Dean Supporters: Please rate Clark, Kerry and Edwards |
|
I am curious as to who Dean supporters would back if he dropped out.
Would you back any of the other candidates and if so, in what order?
Example:
1) Kerry 2) Clark than Edwards Last.
Also, please say why you would back the other candidate if you can put it in words.

I think Clark would take the job very seriously and do an excellent job. He's brilliant and shrewd and a fighter.
Not a big Kerry fan. I think he panders. I find him a follower, not a leader. We need to clean house in this country, and he's part of the house that needs to go.
I find it curious that anyone thinks Edwards is qualified to be president. About all he's got going for him is looks and charm.
That's my two cents.

3. 1. Edwards 2. Kerry 3. Clark |
|
1. Edwards 2. Kerry 3. Clark
I like Edwards' positive message and platform. I like Kerry's platform and his speeches. I like Clark's platform.
I would support the Dem nominee no matter who it is. It would be nice if Dean was VP but I think the "man" or "establishment" will come down way too hard on him if he was the nominee.

I live in Wisconsin (crucial state Deaniacs!). I'm still pretty sure that I'm going to vote for Dean in the primary. Though, if Dean does lose Wisconsin and drops out of the race, here's my order.
1. Clark 2. Edwards 3. Kucinich 4. Sharpton
10. Kerry
i don't like Kerry. i don't trust him. at all.

(1) Dean is my first choice.
(2) Clark is the other "unconventional, grassroots" candidate. He also pulls no punches with the Bushites. I think Clark may share credit with Dean for making Kerry tougher on Bush. I've got two votes counted in California for Clark (aunt and uncle).
(3) Kerry. Very solid, has good Democratic credentials, has war record, and is starting to act like he wants to take on Bush. That's good.
(4) Edwards. Excellent message, excellent delivery, just not mean and nasty enough. I think he's a good veep choice and can be groomed for 2012. Edwards of the remaining candidates is probably the least apologetic about the Iraq War, that bothers me.

10. And you didn't mention Kucinich, but... |
|
...if Dean drops out before the OR primary in May, I'm voting Kucinich. I think a lot of others will too.

Clark--anti-IWR, sincere, ant-Patriot, likeable, good college tuition assistance program, acceptable tax reform plan, will change new Medicare bill for all, will investigate Bush administration & bring impeachment.
Kucinich--anti-war, anti NAFTA/GATT/FTAA,anti-Patriot Act I & II, single-payer healthcare plan for all, college for all.
Kerry--strong healthcare plan, strong environmental plan, good education plan, has done a lot for nurses, SAYS he will try to change trade laws (fair trade for workers and environment).
*****If we're not going to worry about the deficit then we at least need to do it up right!******
Don't like Edwards' strong war stance and not enough experience. These put him at the bottom.

Kerry follows distantly.
Edwards is at the bottom of the list of current candidates for me.

15. I'm another Dean supporter |
|
who would find it very, very difficult to support Kerry. And none of the others seem to have any chance of getting the nomination, so what to do?
Maybe by November I'll have gotten over the utter betrayal of Dean by the media, but I doubt it.
Then again, I live in Kansas, so my vote won't count anyway.

Kerry is marginally worse than Edwards because he's been doing it longer, but both are "business as usual" Democrats...you, know, the reason we're where we are now.

I don't like Kerry very much, but in fairness I have to say that after watching the current White House occupant on MTP today I'm sure a Kerry presidency would feel like a fucking utopia compared to what we've got going now.

I saw it today, too. All I could do was sit there and say OMG. I almost felt sad for the man sitting there pathologically believing his own stories. Only the pod people will not see it. Everyone else can.

26. It was physically painful to watch |
|
It was the closest I've ever come to feeling sorry for the guy. His "responses" were an ecstasy of repetitions and pregnant pauses --- there was one moment where he paused for so long after a question I thought there was a technical problem with the tape playback or something. Then he started stammering pathetically and saying "Saddam Hussein was a bad man" for something like the 80th time.
I'm not sure when we can start seeing how this interview affected his numbers, but I can't imagine it won anyone over, and I think it's more likely that it may have alienated some of his supporters. I could be wrong of course, but let's just say that in debate/forensics classes, his performance would be characterized as "shitty".

Credibility to stand up to Bush (unlike Dems who voted for IWR), genuineness, courage, hands-on national security/foreign policy experience, NOT A POLITICIAN.

because his campaign seems to be similar to ours in many ways. Also his supporters on DU have been notable for their courtesy.
Kerry second. I think I'm starting to resign myself to the likely outcome.
Edwards third.

-Push-
I'm not so sure about Clark, though I do like what I've seen of him. I just don't know if I can come out in support of the man who bombed Yugoslavia for 78 days. However, he's a great-looking candidate who could really give it to W., and he does not come across like your typical general-type at all. He seems like a leader.
Kerry I just do not trust, though he is the only one of the top 4 who is against the death penalty; and he does have one of the top ratings among liberal groups. I just find it hard to believe he'd stand up for "Us".
Edwards is an extraordinarily talented politician, with the a great personal story and the best message of the big 4. He rings true, he's handsome, and he's from the ALMIGHTY SOUTH. But, like someone else posted, there's nothing to indicate he's ready to be president.
Bottom line: I only really trust Howard and Dennis - and honestly, I don't even know why. And I think any of the Big 4 could beat Bush, and they all have equal odds. Which is why I've been so upset by how this primary season, which was supposed to be so exciting, has been rolled over by anti-Bush panic. It's god to be anti-Bush; it's not good to panic. They're not.
