Chafee may leave the GOP! |
|
Not sure what the significance of it now. I guess he could run for governor in 4 years? Well I surely welcome him to the Democratic Party. He's a good guy and classy individual. He's more progressive than a lot of Dems right now. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061110/ap_on_el_se/rhode_island_senate

6. The problem w/ good, solid, progressives leaving the G.O.P. is |
|
that it leaves the G.O.P. to rightwing extremists. These extremists don't know squat about the art of political compromise. What extremist does? Divisiveness is what they know. Sad, indeed.

Lincoln Chafee is a Republican, unlike the typical repuke that populates that party of disgust today. I for one would welcome him.

8. What he could do for public office though? |
|
R.I. is sewn up for the Dems except the governor's mansion. But Carcieri was just re-elected on Tuesday. It would be fantastic if Chafee ran for governor next time as a Democrat.
I also figure if the Dems get the White House back in 2008, I'm sure Chafee could get some appointed job, kinda like Clinton did with Bill Cohen.

Or as FOX News would type it, a (D)

10. Chafee is wishing he had decided to do this about a year ago |

I'd certainly vote for him as a Democratic or a Democratically aligned Independent. Perhaps he can run for Governor as a Dem or as an Independent. I think that Rhode Island would probably vote for him.
