Didn't I read yesterday that Michael Steele was going to take that position?

Michael Steele needs to be his replacement.

I'll get on that Steele bandwagon.

"Michael Steele needs to be his replacement."
He ran a great campaign in a solid blue state, and did a bang up job.
He'd be bad for my party, but a logical choice for the GOP.

THAT would be an ideal replacement!!!!!! Mehlman is very nice but we need a stronger communicator and Steele would be perfect!

Oh, please God let the Republicans do this! We'll gain twice as many seats in congress and take back the White House in '08!

1. Why not....they see him as up and in coming black republican
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 10:48 PM by AlamoDemoc
that can swing the votes what African-Americans were giving to the democrats too long without return. I thing the Repugs will use him in order to highlight why he's republican as a choice.

7. He has been given positive media spin within the black community
I bet many have voted for him because of his race in MD....I think he'll be the first notable republican black face since Gary Franks.

Sounds like the Neo Con era of the Republican party is officially over.

5. He's so putrid though.
He's one of those repukes who just starts shouting and talking over their opponent to "make" their point. It's so sad.

And he still supports the war. And is just pathetic. :puke:

6. Perhaps
but they've always been like that. I doubt this guy will be PROPOSING any wars any time soon.

Wasn't his schtick to distance himself far away from Bush during the election?

10. To be fair
I'm from Maryland. I've bumped into Steele a few times. I like him OK. His politics are dreadful (though no worse than most GOPers) and, frankly, I've always found him to be fairly personable and intelligent. Still, he's being chosen for his race, almost entirely.

9. 25%
Not bad for a republican.

But most black people didn't buy his bullshit in MD.

They won't buy it nationwide.

15. Steele is no moderate
He's a Bush Republican even though he ran as far away from him as he could during the campaign. He fooled a lot of people, including some of my own family members, but he didn't fool enough people to win. And the trick he and Ehrlich pulled at the end of the campaign is making a lot of the fooled regret their decision to back him.

14. Be careful what you wish for
That's the same sentiment that the Republicans had about Howard Dean.

Of course, dosent matter who the head of the RNC is as long as the elected Democrats do their jobs well.
