Thoughts on the Election Results from a Soldier in Iraq ?????
I figure we will be reading a lot of these "letters" in the days and weeks to come. Amazingly, this soldier(?), who felt that he could proudly speak on behalf of all the troops in Iraq did not feel the need to leave his whole name, rank, and unit he was serving with. And the Freeps will lap it up as the absolute truth, much as they have swallowed every utterance this fool of a president has dribbled from his smirking lips.

And so, the games begin. Bring it on, idiots.

================================================================================================

"I know you probably get a lot of messages asking you to read stuff on your show, but I BEG you to read this...... I would like you to tell America exactly what they did to their soldiers on Tuesday, and what WE think about our countrymen right now.
"I hope you are satisfied with what you have done...

Today in the mess hall, where there is usually jovial conversation, there was silence, long faces, and broken spirits... Everyone, to include all American soldiers, marines, sailors, airmen, Iraqi Nationals, Bulgarian Soldiers, etc, etc... was speechless, tired, demoralized and stunned.... all ate in erie silence.....

Last night, while we watched the press conference with the President, there was utter disgust, and the common feeling amongst us all that we soldiers are now the loneliest people on Earth.... we fight an enemy over here, and we have a country full of enemies to go home to that are our countrymen. We watched President Bush say his own political funeral, our commander and chief.. as well as ours..... He tried so hard to spin it, but... well.. there is no way to soften such a morale blow.

While you sit and Monday morning quarterback what we work so hard to do for you out here, just know that the spirit of your team is wounded..... YOU liberals, you America have done a great job of demoralizing us... Thank you..."

1. Steady diet of Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Radio, IMHO

It would be bad if your only source for "news" was the Rush Limbag show.

17. It becomes a little harder to "think for yourself" effectively if
you have no other source of information than lies and propaganda. It's not an issue of stupidity, but of the effectiveness of propaganda. ANd if you don't think propaganda works, and works well, perhaps you should study Goebbels and the Nazis. Or just the Bush Administration and their corporate media minions over the last 6 years.

20. Well, doesn't Lmbaugh have over 4 million daily listeners?
Are you calling his listeners "stupid"?

are certainly not intelligent.

22. So you think anyone who is ill-informed is stupid?
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 12:21 AM by Morgana LaFey
I'd say that's YOUR bias, and not what the poster meant at all. It's certainly not how I see things. I rather think of people as doing the best they can unless I'm given some clue to the contrary, whether that "best" is deficient due to naievete or being ill-informed, or just inexperienced and gullible and too willing to "believe" people who appeal to those who are swayed by authoritarians.

23. I think Limbaugh himself called his listeners stupid...

I do not support the mission in Iraq, and if American troops want enthusiasm about murdering Iraqis they should look for it elsewhere.

5. I'm not sure this e-mail is even legit
And even if it is, I doubt that there is that kind of demoralization.

I served in the military.
Points of view are for more diverse than the author of this letter would have us believe.

I think the letter is bullsh*t!

7. It sounds more like freeper propaganda
We all want the troops home, safe with their families and not fighting a war that someone lied to get us into and is making it up as he goes along.

Also, why did a majority of Iraqi war veterans run for office as Democrats?

16. It absolutely is BS....
"Today in the mess hall, where there is usually jovial conversation, there was silence, long faces, and broken spirits... Everyone, to include all American soldiers, marines, sailors, airmen, Iraqi Nationals, Bulgarian Soldiers, etc, etc..."

Whoever wrote this didn't do their homework. The last of the Bulgarian soldiers left in Dec. '05

and if it is. What a shame the person was demoralized that the process he says he is fighting for worked. Second, who scared the ones that voted for dems into staying quiet. Unease I can understand. They will have questions, like what will this mean here, will this change anything for me here, will I get to go home sooner, will less of us die, will we get body armor and new vehicles and all the other things desperately needed? Will someone force the contractors making a fortune here to give us clean water instead of contaminated water?

I'm sure there are some that feel like the letter writer but I am also sure there are some that are laughing, dancing and jumping for joy like we are at the results even if quietly. Meanwhile most are just doing their job, trying to stay alive and waiting until it is their turn to come home.

25. We love the soldiers ....
They are our brothers and sisters, our sons and daughters, our uncles and aunts and mothers and fathers .... Do NOT confuse our rejection of POLICYMAKERS with a rejection of honorable, selfless servants who strive to do their duty ....

To say we dislike soldiers, or disrespect them, is a LIE ..... a RW meme proferred since at least the 60's ... DONT believe it ....

A Liberal Democracy could not exist without a significant DEFENSIVE Military .... WHY would a Liberal deny a strong DEFENSIVE Military to protect their way of life ? ...

I certainly dont, and I know most ALL DUers think likewise ...

The Military isnt the problem: it is the PSYCHOTIC WACKOS who are RUNNING the Military who need to be replaced .....

Soldier ? .... We LOVE you ....

You're coming home soon .....

27. Wow, that is almost the exact opposite of the "letter" I received.

"I can't begin to tell you now many 'we're so proud of you' messages we've gotten over here the past few years from Americans who appreciated us putting our butts on the line even when they (like most of us) thought the people drawing the lines couldn't find their own butts in the dark.

"So I thought I'd return the favor. With the election results this morning came some hope we'll finally get out of this cluster f---. I could almost discern a smile on gunney. But then he's probably just happy that he has something new to bitch about. He and the other non-coms having been preaching to us all morning, reminding us that we are STILL in a war zone and must still keep our guard up. And, of course, there is no guarantee we're going to see home anytime soon. Though Rummy's firing is seen by everyone as a good sign.

"So from all of us over here to all of you back home let me just say, 'we are proud of you' for paying attention and not letting the fear mongers take the day. Thank you.

"Time to let the Iraqis build their own nation. And hopefully whoever replaces Rummy will actually LISTEN to the military instead of thinking he knows better how to do everything while he sits back in his easy chair."
