More Freeper madness.
This letter written by Aaron is bad enough. The Freeper responses, however, indicate that humiliation hasn't taught these fuckers humility. Am I surprised? No. I think I might have actually known the author of this letter when I was in the Army btw.

I know you probably get a lot of messages asking you to read stuff on your show, but I BEG you to read this...... I would like you to tell America exactly what they did to their soldiers on Tuesday, and what WE think about our countrymen right now.

"I hope you are satisfied with what you have done...

Today in the mess hall, where there is usually jovial conversation, there was silence, long faces, and broken spirits... Everyone, to include all American soldiers, marines, sailors, airmen, Iraqi Nationals, Bulgarian Soldiers, etc, etc... was speechless, tired, demoralized and stunned.... all ate in erie silence.....

Last night, while we watched the press conference with the President, there was utter discust, and the common feeling amongst us all that we soldiers are now the loneliest people on Earth.... we fight an enemy over here, and we have a country full of enemies to go home to that are our countrymen. We watched President Bush say his own political funeral, our commander and chief.. as well as ours..... He tried so hard to spin it, but... well.. there is no way to soften such a morale blow.

While you sit and Monday morning quarterback what we work so hard to do for you out here, just know that the spirit of your team is wounded..... YOU liberals, you America have done a great job of demoralizing us... Thank you.

Do us a favor though, when we do come home, spare us the ceremony....... We all now know that it is a bunch of crap, and what you think of us.......

I have to say that right now, I would rather be a pussy ass Frenchman, even though they have no will to fight, at least they have the balls to make a decision and stick with it...... They stuck to thier guns about staying out of this war, even if it was the wrong decision......America on the other hand, goes off half cocked, and when the decision appears to be a hard one, or something that might cost a little bit, they turn tail and run.....

WHAT A NATION OF PUSSIES!!!!

This week I am NOT proud to say that I am an American..........I think it is obvious why... See, we just have told the world that we are not a nation of people who are tough, and will fight for what we believe in... We have told the world that we are a giant coward that will shy away from any difficult challenge...

So, while you eat your cheetos, and sit there and watch your lazy ass get fatter, dumber and happier Joe Citizen.. Just remember this, I, and all my commrades payed a dear price to come this far and have you decide that we should fail...

Realize this, because of your action this week America.... do not expect so many men to be so willing to stand up for your next little whim just to be cut down in the middle of it all............

Realize this also.. you have just put a heavy price on the heads of us all...... Now that we are branded as cowards, we are an easy target, oh so inviting for the taking....... I swore to protect your children in your beds.... yet you fling the door wide open inspite of me to invite the scourge.... Well.... have it your way then.

Because of this, September 11th will soon be overshadowed by these same enemies.. my advice to you is get your lazy, self centered ass up and make peace with your God, and your family.. cause, time will come when they may not be there for you................Because you kicked me in the teeth, and so many others, I know I won't any more.. "

Aaron.

While zero (or very close to zero) Iraq War veteran Republican candidates ran for office. I am 100% positive that the essay has no basis in reality whatsoever.

50. It was probably written by a Repug operative.
I wonder what branch of service "Aaron" is in where he sees "American soldiers, marines, sailors, airmen, Iraqi Nationals, Bulgarian Soldiers, etc, etc" all sitting together in a mess hall. This crap probably came from the same right-wing chair force that produces all the other Republican chain letters.

...for one thing, our troops are obliged to obey civilian rule.
....for another, most are goddamn tired of this war.
....for another, the FRENCH have earned the respect of those they fight alongside in AFGHANISTAN, where the war was worth something since the real ENEMY was there...for a time.
"nobody better dis the French while I'm around," a cop/reservist I know said."They are among the toughest people I've ever met."

The French royalty literally lost their heads supporting our fight for independence from the Brits. Then there is this little thing called Napolean, a tyrant who occupied most of Europe for decades.

It's just that after all this blood, after all this chaos, they have actually learned something about war, and that the Klingon mentaility has no value in the world of today. And anyway, how dare they have the intelligence to actually be right about this war?

than coming home. I say we let Aaron stay there for as long as it takes.

I really don't believe this happy horseshit. There may be a few Aaron's over there, but any with half a brain knows they are in a no win situation. Whoever wrote this, I',m sure never ventured out of Mom and Dad's basement. It's written in Freep prose and the idiot seems willing to sacrifice 100,000 Americans to an indeterminate sentence to avoid having to say this mission was an utterly unwinnable disaster. What a sad piece of slop.

10. You Will Have enough armored vests, armored vehicles, rifles, ammunition, food and water?
:patriot: Why did an administration that was hell-bent on going to war, with the inevitable and terrible human casualties among our troops, consistently underfund the Veterans Administration, which is charged with caring for our wounded and disabled?
Better late than never.

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld is gone, but there's little time for celebration, even for those of us who long ago began calling for his removal. The damage that men do lives after them, and it's time at last for an accounting. The nation's voters have spoken, and it's reasonable to expect that the Congress finally will begin to exercise some oversight of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan after five years of serving as rubberstamp and doormats.

For the Democrats who will soon take charge of the House of Representatives and perhaps the Senate, too, here's a preliminary laundry list of some of the things that need doing:

-A comprehensive investigation of the pre-war intelligence on Iraq and how it was perverted, how the mine was salted, and by whom.

-A thorough investigation of what pre-war advice was offered by senior American military commanders on troop strength, equipment requirements and strategy and tactics. Did even one general ignore the bullying from on high and ask for more troops, and how did Rumsfeld respond?

-Why did the Pentagon send American troops into battle without enough armored vests, armored vehicles, rifles, ammunition, food and water? Who's responsible for that debacle, which cost so much in blood and money?

-Where did our money go? Billions of dollars of taxpayer money disappeared down various rat holes in Iraq, forked over to contractors without even so much as a handwritten receipt. Who got the money? What did they do for it? This is a fertile field that can be drilled for years, with a steady stream of indictments, trials and prison sentences.

-What about those no-bid Defense Department contracts that were parceled out to the Halliburtons and KBRs and Blackwaters in Iraq and Afghanistan, and other more costly weapons and equipment contracts that went to big defense industry conglomerates accustomed to writing very generous checks to the Republicans?

-Why did an administration that was hell-bent on going to war, with the inevitable and terrible human casualties among our troops, consistently underfund the Veterans Administration, which is charged with caring for our wounded and disabled?

-What's been the effect of the grotesque politicization of the selection and promotion system for senior military commanders by the office of the secretary of defense? What failures have resulted from that ill-conceived action? What responsibility do those generals and admirals chosen by Rumsfeld bear for the failure to prepare for and conduct effective action against an inevitable Iraqi insurgency?

-Who at the top bears responsibility for the torture and mistreatment of prisoners and detainees at Abu Ghraib prison and the Guantanamo detention camp? A score of Pentagon investigations got to the bottom of the chain of command but declared that the top, in Rumsfeld's office and the White House, was innocent.

-Who's responsible for breaking our understrength Army and Marine Corps with endless combat duty tours in Iraq and Afghanistan? Who refused all suggestions that the force was too small for the mission, and that 50,000 or 100,000 more men and women were needed in uniform? Who stubbornly refused even to consider the inevitable consequences of an Army so tied down trying to man these wars that it no longer could react to an emergency anywhere else in a dangerous world?

Simply put, the jig is up. President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Rumsfeld have come to the end of their free ride. No longer can they act without thought or ignore the boundaries of the Constitution, the law and common sense.

Did they really think they could get away with all of this without ever being called to answer to history and the American people?

They all deserve what's about to descend on their heads. They deserve every subpoena. They deserve every indictment. Most of all, they deserve a reserved place atop the ash heap of history. A defense to-do list for the new Congress

He makes it sound as though every soldier is a right-wing Republican. Sometimes, it does seem that way, but this doesn't help.

This is psychology, folks. This is nothing but misdirected anger. They're too self-centered or perhaps not yet at the point to blame themselves for their incompetencies these past six years. So naturally they blame us for not acting like them.

Yeah, we did kick you in the teeth, Aaron. And you know what? Your attitude isn't chastening me at all. It's making me feel more and more sure that what needed to happen did happen. This country's election two days ago left right-wing nuts like you behind. That's what America needed.

He might be an infantryman, if he is - no wonder he's on the losing side. That attitude must go down a treat with the Iraqis.

The war may have been 'winnable' at first but his beloved neo-con master screwed the pooch big time, suddenly it's all Clinton's fault.

Aaron is not the sharpest bayonet on the block and it shows in his nonsense post. He can't protect the Iraqis from daily terrorist atrocities so why should I pay any attention to what he says about protecting the Motherland. Grow up Aaron, the mission failed years ago you are just too blinkered to see it. Start blaming those that are really responsible for "Quagmire Accomplished".

Bush got us into this and the responsibility for getting us out victoriously and with honor rests solely with him. The supposed adult babysitters who were supposed to fill his gaps in knowledge, experience, judgment and intelligence failed miserably.

Remember, Bush is still driving this bus Aaron. We gave him everything he asked for in support of you but he had no plan. That's his fault.

29. LOL! Reading through that thread I came across that "Rokke" poster...
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 05:28 AM by T Town Jake
...pontificating like someone who knew something about being in the military, so I clicked on his "profile" - and instantly spotted the tell-tale signs of a fake "veteran" and poseur "fighter pilot."

When I was in the Air Force - the real Air Force - we had many such as him show up on "Open House" (or "Expo") day who would beg to have their pictures taken in the actual, open cockpits of the displayed aircraft - and invariably the most insistent were dressed up as "real" fighter pilots just like Tom Cruise in Top Gun. Got their "flight suits" from surplus stores.

It was a running joke among us: "there's another six-pack jet jockey with his very own pic to 'prove it' to the next girl he's going to try and pick up in bumblefuck bar & grill, ha, ha, ha!"

There are about a dozen things I could point out from "Rokke's" picture on his freepii profile page that are tip-offs to the posed nature of his purported "service" behind the stick of an F-16 (something he brags, and is no doubt lying, about), but the most telling thing about his sad fantasy that he is a pilot (and hero) of some sort is the "Stopped flying F-16's when I started flying FedEx MD-11's" nonsense.

Those among us who have ever worked our way down an genuine USAF flight procedure checklist cannot help but snicker. Nice try, "Rokke."

Note, also, that this brave freeper air "warrior" is not just an Air Force fighter pilot: oh, no!; the Naval Academy, too, had that august hero in their pay & service, and then had to give him up to the boys in blue. He's just like Tom Cruise and Jimmy Doolittle all rolled into one!!!

(one freeper wannabe fantasy, that is)

The final laughs are reserved for his casual, concluding remarks that "but I am still in the ANG working at HQ USNORAD/NORTHCOM in Colorado Springs."

Huh-nuh: isn't happening, period. I could almost believe either that he was a baggage handler for FedEx in Tennessee, or in the ANG in Colorado doing scope-dope scut work one weekend a month, but the twain of the two don't meet, in either the commissioned or enlisted ranks ("Rokke" is pretending to be an officer, after all).

"Rokke": you're a liar, a poseur, and a joke to anyone who knows even a smidgen about the way the real military in general - and the Air Force in particular - works, IMO.

But that posed picture you had taken one day on some Air Force base while you sat in a stripped-down "open house" '16 has sure lent you some credibility "mileage" as a pretend "veteran" over the years on many a web forum, no doubt.

Too bad you probably don't have a single legitimate flight hour, I'd reckon, to go along with that purdy picture.

On edit: clarified grammar.

55. The sent a very small detachhment
And it's highly unlikely they would have been anywhere near a US mess hall. Especially one that housed soldiers, sailors and marines.

This is over the top. It's one thing to say that the Americans who voted for Democrats are mistaken (they are). But cursing them as pussies shows a lack of respect for one's fellow countrymen. Anti-Americanism is never justified, regardless of where on the political spectrum the America-trasher stands.

The Democrats won because:

1.) They ran candidates who masqueraded as moderates. The Democratic Party was careful to avoid revealing too much about their true beliefs. There was very little Howard Dean/Cindy Shaheen rhetoric coming from Democrats this year. Those who did spew it were defeated. While the elections were a significant defeat for Republicans, it wasn't an endorsement of liberalism.

2.) The Washington, D.C. Republican establishment was inept and overcomplascent. From increasing domestic spending to supporting open borders to supporting candidates who engaged in scandalous behavior, they haven't governed conservatively. They merely campaigned solely on the basis of not being the Democrats. They never gave the Americans a reason to vote for them, just against the opposition. This year, it wasn't enough.

3.) A very large number of Americans support the war and laud Bush's committmentment to national security, but oppose the way the war was conducted. Not enough troops used in the early phases. When Saddam's government first fell, there was not enough effort to consolidate the victory. Why, for example, weren't the borders sealed? That might have stopped a lot of the violence, as most of the so-called insurgents are actually foreign terrorists, not native Iraqis. And there are other examples, as well. The war is a just cause, but it could have been carried out better.

Rusty Humphries should tell the complaining soldier to put that in his pipe and smoke it. Whoever wrote that rant is not very well-informed.

36. Same Aaron who wrote this letter in re: to Kerry statement?
Apparantly this guy has a lot of time to think up and write letters. This is his letter to Sen. Kerry that is getting posted around MySpace. Someone has too much time on their hands (and I'd bet it's not a soldier in Iraq)

........................................
{This was written by my husband, Aaron, who is currently deployed to Iraq, in defense of a recent comment made by Senator John Kerry. Pass it along, it might inspire someone else to speak up! ~ Michelle}

Yesterday John Kerry said, "You know education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well, and if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq...

So I wrote him a letter:
I am a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. I a m currently on my second tour in Iraq, a tour in which I volunteered for. I speak Arabic and Spanish and I plan to tackle Persian Farsi soon. I have a Bachelors and an Associates Degree and between deployments I am pursuing an M.B.A. In college I was a member of several academic honor societies, including the Golden Key Honor Society. I am not unique among the enlisted troops. Many of my enlisted colleagues include lawyers, teachers, mechanics, engineers, musicians and artists just to name a few. You say that your comments were directed towards the President and not us. If we were stupid Senator Kerry, we might have believed you.
I am not a victim of President Bush. I proudly serve him b ecause he is my Commander and Chief. If it was you who was President, I would serve you just as faithfully. I serve America Senator Kerry, and I am also providing a service to the good people of Iraq. I have not terrorized them in the middle of the night, raped them or murdered them as you have accused me of before. I am doing my part to help them rebuild. My role is a simple one, but important. You see Senat or Kerry, like it or not, we came here and removed a tyrant (who terrorized Iraqis in the middle of the night, and raped them and murdered them). And we have a responsibility to see to it that another one doesnt take his place. The people of Iraq are recovering from an abusive relationship with a terrible government and its going to take some time to help them recover from that. We can't treat this conflict like a microwave dinner and throw a temper tantrum because we feel like its taking too long.

Senator Kerry, you don't have to agree with this war. You don't have to say nice things about those of us who choose to make sacrifices for the rights of every American rather than sit back an d simply feel entitled to it. But please Senator Kerry, if you're going to call me a stupid murdering rapist, stick by what you say. Don't tell me that I misunderstood or that you would never insult a veteran because you are one too. Having been there and done that does not give you a free pass to insult me.

My suggestion for you, Senator Kerry, is to remember that your speeches are recorded, and broadcast to us simpletons over here. You may want to write down what you want to say before you say it, maybe have somebody look at it before you say it and tell you what others might hear. Remember that we can't read your mind, if there are any misinterpretations in what you say, it's because you didn't communicate clearly.

Good luck to you Senator Kerry, if nothing else it's always entertaining to watch you try and climb out of the holes that you constantly dig for yourself.

Sincerely,

Somebody who is watching his daughter grow up in photographs so that you c an have the right to say whatever you want about him

37. I guarantee you this didn't come from a real soldier...
when I was in Iraq we didn't have time to worry about politics back home or watch much TV. We were too damned worried about looking out for each other.

51. When you sat down to eat...
Did you have members of all four branches of service plus Iraqis and Bulgarian soldiers in the mess hall with you? Cause if not, I wonder how it is Aaron got opinions from all those different people the night after the election. I'm sure the Bulgarians were just crushed by the Democratic victory.

39. Seems suspicious
A soldier who is at war doesn't have the time to worry at political problems, let alone sit down and write a long letter complaining about an election. I think it's fake.

42. Some soldiers have more time than others. Aaron could be, what we call, a "pogue".
pogue < pōg > (plural pogues)

noun

Definition:

1. an offensive term for somebody regarded as a coward or sissy

2. an offensive term for a member of the armed forces employed in a rear echelon support capacity

40. "Aaron" might want to run his writing through the Spell Check.
And also, he may want to look up his facts/ Doing two things is an awful lot to ask for from a freeper, I know. :eyes:

Maybe their was a silence as all the soldiers pictured finally coming home, finally having some adult leadership and finally relieved that the American people were putting them first, for a change.

56. They haven't learned humility. They are not about humility.
They are about swagger, swagger to cover their various phobias. They believe in a Daddy State in which they are better than everyone not white or male. They defer only to the appearance of money, testosterone or their gun-totin', capitalist Jesus, and they imitate Daddy's swagger even as they do so. Daddy smiles indulgently, and laughs at them behind their backs, knowing that they will never, ever muster the self-respect to disobey.

They are not strong enough to understand humility, much less embody it. If you could teach one humility, he wouldn't be a Freeper.

64. This letter writer, enscounced in some posh green zone Officers Club...
does not mention who sent him/his buddies to Iraq in the first place. And, it was the very same person who is sending troops back for a 2nd, 3rd, and now 4th tour. Some of these latter troops, and their families, are not too pleased with the repeat tours.

Georgie's thinking is that if we keep sending them back, they won't need 50 years of medical care...ummm...thats why he cut VA benefits isn't it?

Junk letter. Only place you will find such a mix of troops, both foreign and domestic, would be at a headquarters or replacement depot of some sort.

Or, maybe this guy just likes the vacation spot that is exotic Baghdad.
