Did we get a lot of reports about Denny's wardrobe?

Nancy looks fabu. No doubt about it, and fashion mags could herald that all day long. But this is glaringly different from the kind of coverage received by male pols. I'd like to think it's a one-time-only, being slightly relevant since she's the first woman who's held the job, though that's doubtful.

1. Denny's wardrobe always looked like the tarps you use to protect your car.
What's there to report on?

2. Good point
I just resent the added pressure on women to meet some sort of arbitrary fashion standard.

9. All the time on DU--and I'm as guilty as anyone when it comes to
Pickles, Coulter, etc.

And look how many of us (NOT me this time) tore into Man-on-Dog's poor kids.

5. Damn....that woman looks amazing!
I hope I look as good as her when I get to be her age.

And classy too!

Maybe she can give Pickles the name of her Fashion Designer! LOL!

6. No, but we learned quite a bit about his girth!
BTW, her hubby does her clothes shopping for her. I'd say she has very good taste in men!

7. No, and commenting on his appearance was out of bounds
Both in the media and here at DU. You couldn't call him rumpled, unless it was rumpled in an endearing, the-uncle-who-buys-you-ice-cream kind of way. You couldn't call him fat, or that he looked like a dirty clothes hamper, or that he probably reeked of deep fat fryers and cheap red wine.

But yes, commenting on the new Speaker's wardrobe will be just a one-time-only thi--:spray:

I knew I couldn't type that with a straight face.

8. I hope we can all agree to a single term for her 'look' and then move on to issues ......
For me, the one word that addresses the totality of our new Speaker is 'elegant'.

Now, if we can just accept that, or any similar term you can think of, and use it liberally, then maybe we can concentrate on what she does as Speaker.

The gender bias in our popular culture is long ago worn thin.

11. No - but he didn't look anywhere as good as Nancy
so who wanted to even think about it, much less discuss it?

12. There is something about a person who dresses
well for their position and stands out as a successful, concerned, individual. I think she is amazing. I met her in DC a few years ago and she is really a ni e person. Not shabby to the staffers of other congress people.

But I get what you're saying and agree.

16. She'd look a lot better to me if she sounded less accomodating to Bush
than she has so far.

"Oh, George, impeachment is off the table, and I agree to bury the hatchet, too."

Just the same, the lady looks very very good. Ooh lala.
