I think the Bolton nomination is a feint by the White House.

It's misdirection. Bush has two controversial items on his agenda for the remaining days of the current GOP Congress. One (he says) is the Bolton nomination. And, "Oh, by the way, I want the NSA wiretapping I've been doing made retroactively legal."

Look how subtle that little shuffle is on CNN.

"Along with Bolton's nomination, Bush said he would like to move forward on legislation to retroactively authorize the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance program."

I assume we aren't going to let him get away with this. Hell, if we have to pick one, let's give Bush Bolton and keep the wiretapping he did illegal. But I don't think the election supports Bush getting either.

I will be very disappointed. Somehow, I don't think they will. I think this is a deliberate test and that the Democrats will meet it.
